Digital Max
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Digital Max is, since 2005, the official mascot for Cox Communications. He is a CGI spokesperson, apparently targeting the adult demographic.
He has appeared in all of their major commercial campaigns since June 2005. He not only is represented in commercials, but also on Cox's website where he has a collection of short films (see external links).
According to Cox themselves, Max is an "engaging personality" who has resulted in a "gain of appreciation of the Cox brand name." His personality forefront in the commercials is pushing the product, however, in more recent commercials, he has been less brand-enthusiastic and more like an actual character who appeals stronger to the demographic.
Digital Max is unique in the way that he is a CGI character that lives and interacts with the real world. This is not the first time this technique has been performed in advertising, however.
The character was originally supposed to guide viewers through the interactive television guide on the company's digital cable television service as well, according to the company's original statements in June 2005. No word has been since mentioned on the issue, however.
Digital Max was created in 2005 by ad agency Doner.
