Digimortal is a one-shot postcyberpunk manga written and illustrated by Tsutomu Nihei. Digimortal, a mysterious armored mercenary on salary to a secret organization, contracts to kill one of the leaders of a new technocratic Inquisition that is terrorizing the masses.

A megaconglomerate called "The church of transfiguration" monopolized the excavation of the ancient crafts and set up a virtual world goverment. Religously devoted to technology, they promoted extremt cybernetic modification of the human body.

Prior to the great ruin, civilization had created wonders such as immortality through genetic engeering. The church formed an inquistion system to track down and punish those who possessed traces of this manipulation.

A unnamed assassin is sent to kille the inquisitor Halogen Übler and to destroy his base of operation.

[edit] Characters

The Assassin: A darkhaird young man with possibal some supernatural powers, such as strenght and speed. He wears a black body armor and weilds halberd weapon.

Halogen Übler: The antagonists of the story. Never showed his face after becoming a inquistor. Is over 50 years old since the pictures according to when the last picture of his face was taken. Is rarely seen.

Tolaris and Lataris: Two twin sisters who have been branded as freaks and put in prison, however Übler had them relesed and put in to his service, possibaly becoming hes second in command. Theire armor are similar to Musubis in NOiSE
