Digby Ioane (born 14 July 1985) is an Australian rugby union footballer. He currently plays for the Queensland Reds in the Super 14 competition. He previously played for the Western Force in their inaugural year in 2006 to 2007.
Born in Wellington but raised in Melbourne, Digby Ioane represented Victoria in both rugby union and rugby league before attending St. Joseph's College, Gregory Terrace in Brisbane being a part of Reidy F at the college. He went on to represent the Australian Schoolboys from 2002 to 2003. He then represented Australia at U19 and U21 level in 2004.
He toured with the national side, the Wallabies at the end of the 2005 season. Ioane played 12 games in 2006 for the Force, scoring two tries. Following the end of the Super 14 season he was selected to play for the Australia 'A' team that played two matches against Fiji. He was also a part of the U21 Australian team that made it to the semi-finals at the 2006 World Championship. Ioane was nominated for the International Rugby Board's U21 International Player of the Year award.
Digby Ioane has been nominated for IRB Awards in 2006.
He has signed a two year contract with the Queensland Reds from 2008 [1] and has been signed by the Melbourne Rebels for the inaugural Mazda Australian Rugby Championship season [2].
On June 3, 2007, Ioane made his International debut, playing against Wales. With a try-saving tackle and scoring a try in front of his two spectating parents at Suncorp Stadium, it was a perfect debut.
