[edit] Whacky Engines Cat

Do you think it is worth establishing a whacky engines cat or portal or project (I don't understand the difference) to try and ensure some uniformity of standards and notability and evidence across the various engines/investor scams we seem to have here on Wiki (eg Bourke engine). OK It'll need a better name. Greglocock (talk) 10:34, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

The problem is it comes down to opinion on whats wacky. --DieselDude (talk) 19:59, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Any engines that are not commercially available. That would include Quasiturbine when used as an IC, Revetec, Bourke engine, Crower six stroke, Beare Head, Split cycle engine etc, for some of which some data exists, others look like investor scams. I'd like to see a more standardised format - and a more rigorous attitude towards cites (I keep meaning to add references to the Bourke Engine critique for example). I'd call it "Experimental Engines" or somesuch. Incidentally, do you have a source for "9) Operating an internal combustion engine in detonation reduces efficiency due to heat lost from the combustion gases being scrubbed against the combustion chamber walls by the shock waves." in the Bourke article?
