Diego Martín Meijide Blanco (born 9 May 1976 in Montevideo) is currently captain of Real Oviedo the champions of the region of Asturias (winners Trofeo Principado 2007) and currently top of the Tercera division in Spain. Signed from F.C. Torrevieja whom he played for for 5 seasons and was player of season at the club in all 5 of those seasons.[citation needed] He is the main position central defender. He scored 8 goals last year, and 2 in first 4 this season[when?].
