Dictionary of American Naval Aviation Squadrons

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dictionary of American Naval Aviation Squadrons (DANAS) is a work being written by the Naval Historical Center. It covers naval air squadrons in much the same way as the Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships covers commissioned vessels. Two volumes have been published, one on attack squadrons and the other on patrol squadrons. However, it is clear that further volumes will be forthcoming if adequate resources are available for writing them, since fighter squadrons, lighter than air squadrons, helicopter squadrons, and a few other miscellaneous units have not been covered as yet.
