Dick Shearer

Dick Shearer (September 21, 1940 – September 20, 1997) was an American jazz trombonist.
He is most famous for his work as lead trombonist and music director for the Stan Kenton Orchestra, since taking over the lead chair from Jim Trimble in the early 1970s until Stan's death in 1978. He led the band during Stan's illnesses, and produced several of the band's last recordings. From 1979 - 1982 Dick Shearer was the director of Wayne State University's (Detroit) Jazz Bands.
