Richard Dennis "Dick" Lynch (born April 29, 1936 in Oceanside, New York) is a former American football defensive back in the National Football League for the Washington Redskins and the New York Giants. He was a one-time Pro Bowler in 1963, when he led the NFL in interceptions. He wore number 22 with the Giants. Lynch is also currently ranked one of the best defensive players of all time for the New York Giants. No one has yet to beat his record of number of interceptions per game and season.
Lynch also attended Notre Dame College and is in their Hall of Fame. After getting the touchdown that broke Oklahoma's 47 game winning streek, ND winning 7-0, every year they close down the school for him and celebrate. There, he wore number 25.
Lynch currently works as a color commentator for the New York Giants' radio broadcasts on WFAN. He has worked in the Giants broadcast booth since 1967.
His son, Richard Lynch (31), was killed in the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, where he worked on the 84th floor of Two World Trade Center.
Dick Lynch is also married to Rosalie Lynch. Former Miss Pennsylvania and model. They have six children and eleven grandchildren.
