Richard J. 'Dick' Cohen (born December 10, 1949) is the current Minnesota State Senator for Senate District 64. Cohen is a member of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party and serves as the chairman of the Senate Finance Committee.[1]

Cohen was first elected to the Minnesota Legislature in 1976. He served as a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives in district 63B and later in house district 64B, being elected in 1982 to 1984. He has served as the state Senator of senate district 64 since 1986[2] after defeating the lone Republican senator within the Twin Cities.[3] He has been re-elected in the 1990, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2002 and 2006 elections. He is currently serving his 7th term.[4]

Cohen was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota and graduated from Highland Park High School in Highland Park. he later earned a B.A. from Northwestern University and a J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law in Saint Paul.[2]
