Dick Auman

Dick Auman is the Democratic Party candidate for the Illinois 16th Congressional District seat in the United States House of Representatives in the 2006 elections. He served two-terms as Mayor of Galena, Illinois from 1997 to 2005.
He was born in Freeport, grew up in Galena, Illinois, has been married to Mary Racey Auman since 1966, and has two adult children. Auman served three years in the U.S. Marine Corps, has a BS in English an MS in Counselor Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MS in English from the University of Northern Illinois.
He has taught English in Plymouth, Wisconsin & Algonquin, Illinois, served as a school counselor in Elizabeth, Illinois, worked for Catholic Social Services in Freeport and Galena, managed a private practice in personal, family and marriage, and divorce mediation counseling as an Illinois Licensed Clinical Counselor and Certified Divorce Mediator.
