Talk:Dib (Invader Zim)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Q: Since Dib's father is Professor Membrane, wouldn't that make Dib's name "Dib Membrane?" A: No, it's stated in the comentry at several points that membrane is his first name. Jhonen wanted the classic joke of a charicter with no known last name
I think "Membrane" is actually the first name of Dib's father. The reference to Dib Membrane should be removed.--Sobekneferu 06:39, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Please note: any unsourced speculation/claims about the series do NOT belong here. If you believe you have some information that has been confirmed to be true, make sure you back it up with a reliable source. --InShaneee 03:12, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
It is true that dib was an experiment of membranes, but I'm not going to post it without citation (it was on a dvd commentry somewhere, when I find it, I'll add it) Devilmaycare 07:53, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Death
Isn't it true that Vasquez was constantly trying to kill off and/or replace Dib, due to his own dislike? I remember reading that Nick had several episodes edited which were origanally intended to kill Dib. --Wack'd About Wiki 01:48, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
I don't think Vasquez hated Dib, I think it was the viewers... the only episode I know of which was explicitly meant to kill off Dib was "Bad Bad Rubber Piggy", which in the end they changed because Nick wouldn't allow them to kill of a major character.
In a related note, anyone know the name of the character that was supposed to replace Dib? I recall his name being mentioned in the commentary for BBRP but can't remember it exactly. It might look good in the article. K00bine 12:21, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
It was Lewie (sp?) played by Shaun_Cassidy, it's mentioned around the time the hunter destroyer machine is unveiled. Now we just got to figure out where to put it. Devilmaycare 11:36, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
Am I the only person who realises that the whole thing was a joke on the commentary? Considering that all the crew did on that comentary track was make fun of the show, and each other, it's fairly obvious that the whole "kill Dib" thing was a joke. Nimdok 20:24, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
So, your argument is that if there's no evidence to one side, then the other must be true? Huh. Sounds a lot like the argument that "true believers" use to proove their personal dogma. Not exactly a good stance for an encyclopedia, is it? Besides, it wasn't removed, it was edited to state that it was LIKELY a joke. Lighten the Hell up, most've what was said in that commentary was the group taking jabs at one another, and the killing Dib one was directed at Dib's VA (whass-is-name).
But whatever. You live in your fantasy world where everything equates to your world view and no opposing opinions exist. Fine by me. Nimdok 18:56, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
"Louie" and the notion that they were going to kill of Dib were indeed jokes. In fact, on the audio commentary in question (I think it was on disc 3 of 6 on the original release, but I don't remember which specific episode) Johnen stated jokingly, laughing as he said it, "We were actually going to kill off Dib". Andy Berman, who voiced Dib, said "No you weren't" and Johnan continued with the farce stating that he was going to be "Replaced by a guy named... I dunno... Louie" obviously making it up off the top if his head. Now you can argue that this is insinuation all the live long day as people have done with other topics about Zim, but it's getting pretty damn rediculous. People need to understand this show is a COMEDY by a man who has done nothing but COMEDIES ever since he started working in entertainment. [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Dib invader zim.jpg
Image:Dib invader zim.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] A source that could be used: Jerry Beck's Not Just Cartoons: Nicktoons!
I found a book in the bookstore called Not Just Cartoons: Nicktoons! by Jerry Beck. I'm not going to buy it and join the project, but I will ask the other members to get the book so that they can add real world information about various fictional characters.
This makes the creation of separate articles for *many* fictional characters feasible. Having information about the development of the character will make the articles satisfy Wikipedia:Notability (fiction)

[edit] Dib's Glasses
Does he have glasses or not? In the episode, ZIM eats waffles, at the last minute after the robots attacked and he screamed it showed that he wasnt wearing any glasses...
