Talk:Diamond Cross

I was surprised by this

Both the Diamond Cross and the False Cross are sometimes mistaken for the true cross Crux, even by some of the most experienced at celestial navigation

Now I can believe people getting this wrong who have a passing knowledge of the stars, but epsilon Crucis is so distinctive that I find it hard the "most experienced at celestial navigation" could make this error. I have therefor modified the text. Conrad Leviston (talk) 23:02, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

People often see what they expect to see. The False Cross is routinely mistaken for Crux. As it rises first, those looking for Crux in the evening sky will often think they've found it. And I wouldn't have that much faith in epsilon. It's only 4th magnitude and a bit of fog or haze can drop it to the point where it doesn't register. B00P (talk) 10:34, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
