Abraham Rothschild, born the article previously said, in 1853, was NOT the son of the famous German banker Meyer Amschel Rothschild or Mayer Amschel Rothschild, unless of course they had sperm banks in 1812. In fact, the gentleman named Abraham Rothschild referred to herein is not a descendant of the banker at all but the son of Meyer Rothschild, a Cincinnati jeweler. (Please note that Meyer = John in names of yore). There were a number of Rothschilds on the Northern European continent going back many centuries who also took the name meaning Red Shield. A number of persons named Rothschild emigrated to the USA from several countries in the late 1800s and this American born Abraham would have descended from someone with that name. However, NONE of the descendants of the famous jewish banker Mayer Amschel Rothschild's wandered anywhere – his legacy was that they all operated as a single cohesive unit on a European business plan and none came to America until the early part of the 20th century and then only on a limited basis and only because of the war. In fact, one of the reasons that the Rothschild banking empire is now a bit player on the global market is precisely because they did not take a major position in the US market.

[edit] Currie not a killer?

According to this old newspaper story referencing Jerry Flemmons, Jim Currie's attack only injured Barrymore and he did not kill the other actor.

A classic tale was the wounding of actor Maurice Barrymore, father of Ethel, Lionel and John, as he awaited a midnight train out of Marshall in 1878. Jim Currie was "inflamed by liquor" when he insulted actress May Cummings and shot the protesting Barrymore, reports the Frontier Times. "The room was partly filled with the fumes of black powder as Currie put up his gun, and taking hold of Miss Cummings, jollied her around with a drunken air of braggardism." Currie went to jail and Barrymore and Miss Cummings, "in due time," went home to New York.

[edit] NPOV

I find that this whole page is somewhat slanted, focusing heavily on: the fact that many perceived Abraham Rothschild as guilty; his wealth and his excellent team of lawyers; causing pity for the victim and the town itself. I've changed already something in the very last paragraph: Abraham Rothschild was not convicted in the end, and therefore, a statement should not be made saying that he murdered Bessie. However, I still question the neutrality of the remainder of that last paragraph, and whether phrases such as "evidence... was ironclad" and "buy his freedom" should be in there. Unless someone comment's, I'll remove the whole last paragraph, as already it is redundant, as already explained in the above section.--Steven 01:31, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
