Diane Yatauro is an American politician affiliated with the Democratic party. She is currently the representive of the 18th Legislative District of Nassau County, New York, as well as the Presiding Officer of the Nassau County Legislature.

Diane grew up in the Soundview and Morris Park neighborhoods of The Bronx, New York. Prior to starting a career in politics, Diane established herself as a businesswoman by serving as Second Vice President of Chase Manhattan Bank. She is also a noteworthy activist in the Long Island community by serving as Vice President of the Oyster Bay- East Norwich Boys and Girls Club, as well as a former board member of Portledge School. Diane has also taught religion at St. Rocco's Church in Glen Cove, New York since 1992.
Diane currently lives in Glen Cove, New York with her husband, Bernie. Together, they have two children: son Michael and daughter Noelle.

In 2003, Diane was elected to the Nassau County legislature and was subsquently reelected in 2005 and 2007. In 2008, Diane was sworn in as Presiding Officer of the Nassau County Legislature.
Diane has been very active in issues relating to quality of life and child care. In 2006, she was a leader in securing a $100 million environmental bond approved by the voters, which provides funds to preserve the few remaining farms and other open spaces left in Nassau County. She was instrumental in the passage of Tobacco 19, a local law that raised the legal age to buy tobacco products from 18 to 19 in an effort to keep cigarettes off high school campuses. In 2006, Diane approved a “living wage” law that will increase wages for workers contracted by the county to $9.50 starting in 2007 with increases to follow in 2008 to $10.50 an hour and $12.50 an hour in 2010. Yatauro was also instrumental in the passing of a bill providing a partial tax exemption for qualified first-time homebuyers in Nassau County, providing a break on property tax bills for the first five years. In 2005, Diane pioneered the passing of the Colette Coyne Skin Cancer Prevention Bill following the death of Nassau County resident Colette Coyne. The bill raises melanoma awareness by placing stringent guidelines on minors that wish to use tanning facilities.
