Diane Herrmann

Diane Herrmann is Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Mathematics and a Senior Lecturer in the College at the University of Chicago. She graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Allegheny College in 1975, and was awarded an MS from Chicago in 1976, where she became a lecturer in mathematics. In 1988 she completed her doctoral dissertation, "Cantor Generalized Quadrangles in p-groups," under George Glauberman.
Her area of research interest is group theory, and she often lectures introductory undergraduate algebra. She is a member of the University Chorus at Chicago.
A tiny plastic effigy of her made using Creepy Crawlers was included as an item in the 2007 University of Chicago Scavenger Hunt[1].
