The Diamond Mountains are located along the border between White Pine and Eureka Counties, in east-central Nevada in the western United States. The mountains run in a north-south direction northeast of the town of Eureka.
The mountains cover an area of 293.4 square miles (760 km²), and reach an elevation of 10,029 feet at Diamond Peak, which dominates the central portion of the range. The mountain range lies between Newark Valley to the east, and Diamond Valley to the west.
The Bureau of Land Management oversees 96% of the range, and privately held land makes up the other 4%. Vegetation is primarily Sagebrush steppe, Pinon-juniper, and Montane shrub. The mountains are home to Mule Deer, Sage Hen, Chukar, Cottontail Rabbits, and Jack Rabbits, as well as being prime grazing areas for domestic cattle and sheep.
