Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City is a campus/technology park located on the Thane-Belapur Road, Koparkhairane in Navi Mumbai, India. It has an area of 560,000 m² (56 hectares = almost 140 acres). It was completed in 2002 and is called "DAKC" by the locals. It is owned by one of the country's largest private conglomerates, Reliance ADA Group and houses a state-of-the-art 24 hour National Network Operations Centre (NNOC) along with more than 10,000 employees working primarily for Reliance's Communications division (now renamed RCOM after going public).
This site was earlier owned by ICI and housed the first polyester staple fibre plant in India. Upon acquisition by Reliance, the site was renamed Terene Fibres India Pvt. Ltd (TFIPL). Production facilities at the plant had been moved out of this location by 2001.
DAKC, houses several building, all called "Blocks", where the various departments of Reliance Communications are located. Each building is made of dark glass from outside and give it the futuristic (by Navi Mumbai standards) look. I-Block is where the top honchos of Reliance Communications including the Chairman's Office sit.
I Block and the BHQ (Bussiness Head Quarters) are among the only buildings with elevators, individual toilets with sinks (wash basins are common for other blocks), the permission to eat lunch at one's desk, conference rooms with ceiling mounted projectors and porches which is a big deal during Mumbai's 4 month monsoon season.
There are 3 food courts, in A Block, B Block and F Block respectively. Cuisines from across India and the world are available here with choices galore. There is a Bombay Blues restaurant, for high-profile visitors to attend (also called the Executive Dining Room).
The Campus is partially Wi-Fi enabled (I Block is a complete hot spot) with two HDFC Bank ATMs and one ICICI Bank ATM located therein. There is also an HDFC Bank branch located within the campus. A Reliance World outlet in the B Block enables employees and visitors to purchase handsets and avail other telephony services.
Other than this, the campus has a huge artificial lake where migratory birds can be found at times. There are temples, fountains, medical facilities, parking lot for over 500 cars, and a helipad within the campus. The campus also houses a guest house (called Hermitage) for high profile guests, where service is nothing less than any 5 star business hotel.
DAKC is open and working 24x7. People feel younger day by day working in DAKC.
