Dharmavaram is a city and a municipality in Anantapur district in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is famous throughout India for producing silk sarees. The Dharmavaram Temples are important places of pilgrimage. Puttaparthi, the birth place and abode of Sathya Sai Baba is situated 30km from Dharmavaram. Dharmavaram is a railway junction which falls under South Central Railway Zone of Indian Railways. Dharmavaram is just 40 km away from Anantapur city.
The novel 'Warp & Weft' written by J Vinay, a Bangalore-born, Manchester-based author is set in Dharmavaram. The book details the rustic lifestyle in a lively manner.

As of 2001 India census,[2] Dharmavaram had a population of 103,400. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Dharmavaram has an average literacy rate of 56%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 65% and, female literacy is 46%. In Dharmavaram, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.

DHARMAVARAM (Station Code :DMM) is a station on Guntakal-Bangalore section of Guntakal(GTL) Division of South Central Railway(SCR). Earlier it was an entirely Meter Gauge Station. After the gauge conversion of Guntakal-Dharmavaram-Bangalore from Meter Gauge to Broad Gauge under Project Unigauge, it became a bi-gauge station. Two meter gauge lines originate from this station. One goes to Pakala and further to Tirupati, while the other line goes to Guntakal. Tirupati-pakala Gauge Conversion ws completed long back and Pakala-Madanapalle Road Gauge Conversion is in progress now. The soon-redundant Meter Gauge trains therefore ply between Dharmavaram and Madanapalle Road Staions only.
