Dharma combat

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dharma combat is an exchange between student and teacher, and sometimes between teachers, as a means of demonstrating one's understanding of Buddhist tenets. It is traditionally seen in Zen traditions, particularly Sōtō Zen and the Kwan Um School of Zen. In both traditions, it is a key component in the Dharma transmission process.[1][2]
