[edit] Dillon/Dhillon connection

Dhillon is already known to be part of Christian Caste in America, Canada and UK please do not exclude any religon from its high caste status.

Hi there. I've never heard of any connection between Dillon and Dhillon, but it would be interesting if there were one. I've never seen a convincing history of how "Dillon" came to be an Irish surname, but most sources claim an Anglo-Norman origin originally meaning "Of Lyon" (de Lyon). I've also seen a few purported "Old Gaelic" forms of the name, but the Norman origin seems more plausible.

Regardless of whether there is a historical connection between "Dillon" and "Dhillon", it may be a good idea to inter-link the two articles from their "See also" sections because of the similarity in sound (similar to the current link to Dylan from the Dillon article). I wouldn't start adding anything speculative about the connection to either of the articles without first finding a reliable scholarly source. Hope that helps. Mike Dillon 17:56, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
