Instead of deleting, how about merging it with the David Firth article?
Devvo rules he should have his own page on here :) it would be confusing if it was on the Firth page....

[edit] Question about article

Is there any need for a 'Is Devvo real' section (Not the discussion one, on the main atricle) after in the opening paragraph it is already esabalished that devvo is a work of fiction - 'Darren 'Devvo' Devonshire is a fictional stereotypical chav, who is the subject of a series of mockumentary short films, which are created by the filmmaker '?

—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 62.30.33.3 (talk) 18:42, 6 March 2007 (UTC).

Yes but has that been proved? How do you define fictional? I saw Devvo at Beached Festival an in sheffield and had my photo with him - he waz real then

[edit] Who is Shady Piez?

"As yet there has yet to be a confirmed report of Shady Piez actually performing live with Devvo instead he is usually seen on stage with Marley and DJ Rhino Projekt."

Which begs the question, why? Who is he played by? I think its mr firth himself.

EDIT - I was right, piez is firth check the new donny soldier video pause at 10/11 seconds when piez comes round the corner.

[edit] is devvo real?

Well?

No, it's a made up character. I used to know the person who plays him, and he's not a 'chav'. doktorrob™ 18:54, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Yes - I was on a bus in Doncaster 6 months ago and he was thrown off for not having a ticket
YES! According to Dave Firth, Devvo is Darren Devonshire, a chav in the Hull area. Crust and Devvo are two different people! The video of Crust as "Devvo" is no more than a parody or imitation of Devvo.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Whats his real name then?? No one on here seems to know

I contest this is he fictional Is Pete Doherty fictional - no he is a self created characture of himself (and a twat!!) but he isnt fictional cos I have seen him Same with Elton John, Gary Glitter, Ziggy Stardust / David Bowie, Ozzy Osbourne and all the greats Devo was on stage at beached - that makes him real

Oh and do you think Creshden Crayfield is real?

That's not his real name. doktorrob™ 19:09, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

You lot shoud get real

DEVVO IS REAL!!

Do you really believe "Creshdon Crayfield", "Crust" and "Christian Pickup" are actually real people? These names are obviously made up so I've removed the references to them. Also a great many people are debating how "real" this character is, if he's putting it on completely or just a bit. As no one is quite sure, there should be no statement on the page about whether he is a "real" person or not.

  • Why is there even debate as to whether he is real? There is only 'much debate' on the subject if you have never watched David Firths work. His friend Christian, known as Crust in some credits and also 'Chreshdon Crayfield' is who plays him. You can see him in lots of videos, and most recently the video for the song by the Grap Digging Sharon Fruits (their band) called 'Traveling Mind', a still from which is currently on fat-pie.com and clearly shows Crust, out of character as Devvo.

Back in 2004 when devvo was 'new' on fat pie, crust was openly credited for playing the part of devvo and Mr firth was openly credited as being Darren Banks, on the WHODUNNIT page. If you dont belive me, take a look at archive.org - internet archive. If you want the exact link go to adcuz.co.uk, because I posted it there on the comments.

AND - look on the current whore-o page (top right hand corner on Fat-Pie homepage) theres a video called An evening with crust and fergul. They talk about devvo and crust removes his glasses and make references to being like 'clerk kent' (the alter ego of superman) and in doing so he is saying that he 'transforms' into devvo. If you know what I mean... Can some one please reply to this or give their opinions. Thanks :)

There's not really any debate as to whether Devvo is real or not. It is quite obvious that he played by "Crust" aka "Creshdon Crayfield". I'm just not sure what his real name is. Jack 17:14, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
Crust's real name is Christian Pickup. At the end of the music video to Shitmat's Ellesse Warrior he is credited. --XSheep 19:34, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] whatever on channel 4

[edit] Guiness World Record

- - It has been confirmed that Devvo has set a new world record for the 'most swear words used in a TV show' - Page 185 of the Guinness World Records 2008: "The first episode of 'Strutter' (Objective Productions) which aired on MTV, Nov 2006 contained 201 swear words." However the Guiness World Records have since recognised that Devvo’s earlier debute on E4 22:00 7th July 2006 (Monkey Kingdom Productions) contained 204 swear words (175 Fucks, 17 Dick Heads, 7 Shits, 3 Bastards, 2 Cunts (bleeped)). Further as Strutter was a 22 minute show and Devvo's appearance was 10 minutes, Devvo was more than twice as sweary as Strutter. Strutter = 9.2 profanities per minute (ppm). Devvo = 20.4ppm

[edit] Censorship! What Really Happened At Beached

Due to standing up to the Motor guy who seems hell bent on deleting anything he doesn't understand my card is marked and anything I edit is automatically considered vandalism - that seems rather 1984 - we are all equal but some are more equal than others attitude - or maybe its along the lines of George Bush who stands up for Democracy so long as it agrees with him!

Anyway for anyone who is interested in what really happened at Devvos first stage performance at Beached Festival - here is my eye witness account:

On 19th Aug MC Devvo Performed Live on stage for the first time at Beached festival in Scarbouough (Dj Shady Piez was absent apparently with Bird Flu according to Devvo). Devvo performed with a large posse he rambled in typical Devvo style and sung Crystal Meffin', but couldn't remember the words. There were many people in the audience not impressed with Devvo and they started to hurl missiles, however several of these missiles fell short and hit some of the many Devvo lovers at the front of the crowd who then turned around and started to hurl them back. The organisers pulled the plug before it kicked off. However the next band (The Enemy) came out and were universally booed by the Devvo fans who were disgruntled at the proceedings. It started to get very ugly until Enemy lead singer pulled Devvo back on stage where he danced like a loon throughout their set.

When Devvo finally came off stage he was mobbed for autographs etc by other bands, organisers and general scallies who had got back stage - but the security decided to frog march him out the back and chuck him out...

(And yes I know this is more info than needed on Wikipedia!)

Sounds like fun, I wish I was there :) Devvo nearly caused a riot lol

Isn't the 'unnamed southerner' in the E4 episode Flingaz? - YES! it is. According to their Myspace photos. So yeh, I suppose someone should change it. But in a way he is 'Unnamed' cos in devvo in the studio devvo refers to him as 'this southerner'

[edit] Devvo as a fictional character vs Devvo as a real person

While Mr. Firth is known for some surrealist tactics, there is either proof or no proof on whether he is or isn't a fictional person. So let's cite a source on this, shall we? Come on, this is an article on a person, and we need to get this right. 75.72.167.230 02:27, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Oh, and just as an aside, I will be deleting that text if it's not cited somehow. Frankly, I think it's not responsible to claim he's fictional without citing that at all. 75.72.167.230 02:29, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Devvo is fiction, this should be clearly noted.

The character which plays him as a music myspace where he's seen clearly in normal clothing and his writing clearly seperates him from Devvo. Like it or not, and add a spolier warning if you like, Devvo is a fictional character and this should be clearly noted. If not, this article lacks a huge amount of credibility and I'd consider it for deletion. --Joewithajay 15:49, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Oh, and if you're interested, his myspace is http://www.myspace.com/creshdoncrayfield , and here's a photo of him http://b3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/01240/36/06/1240476063_l.jpg , and his name seems to be Creshdon Crayfield. So argument over about whether he's real, 'aight? --Joewithajay 15:58, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Stating this would help keep this article out of AfD. As this article is currently written, I'm not clear whether this person is some oddball with a cult following, or a music performer of marginal importance. In either of those cases, I'd argue this person fails the notability test; if he's fictional character on Channel 4, akin to Ali G, then I would think that he is notable. -- llywrch (talk) 05:02, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Devvo is as real as Dizzy Rascal, Princess Superstar and Bob Dillon - this should be clearly noted.

So just stop it with the deleation nonsense - if you really want to satisfy yourself - go into your nearest HMV and youw will see his album and DVD sitting on the shelves He has been on E4, Channel 4, BBC He has been interviewed in Dazed and Confused, Mix mag, DJ Mag, Nuts, had reviews in kerrang, NME, Metro etc etc

I think you are too old to undersatand the real internet!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bobslayer (talkcontribs) 08:28, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
