Talk:Devilock

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

When it says "In an interview, Only stated..." any idea where that interview apeared or who was interviewing him? Paige 17:36 16 Jun 2003 (UTC)

The interview appeared in Ugly Things Magazine #12. The interviewer was Mike Stax. I've been unable to get ahold of the issue, but you can read the relevant portion at the Misfits bible archives. --Misfit 17:14 19 Jun 2003 (UTC)

This looks like it was copied and pasted from here (although it could have been the other way around):

[edit] The Cure?

Who, exactly, wore a Devilock in The Cure? 'Cause I don't recall ever seeing anyone in the band sporting one... --Blue Dream 20:13, August 20, 2005 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure none of them have ever sported one. In fact, the only member who ever had notable hair at all would be Robert Smith, with his trademark poofy style. No devilock though... Durandal1717 22:55, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
The bass player, Simon Gallup, actually did wear a Devilock in 1982 in some promotional photos for The Cure's album Pornography. A search on Google Images with the terms "cure 1982" or "cure promo" or something along those lines will bring up some photos. The most notable ones feature Robert Smith in a pink, long-sleeved t-shirt. Simon's Devilock is a little more akin the frayed ones that Samhain wore. --CMLB 09:33, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Question

The photo is really difficult to understand. Perhaps someone could take a clearer photo or better yet, an illustration might serve the article any more. Right now it is hard to see what exactly a "devil-lock" is judging from the photo provided

[edit] Lamb Of God

No one in this band has this kind of hair :-) check their wiki. They should be removed.

Not true. The lead singer, while not currently sporting one, has worn a devilock in the past. If you don't believe me, go watch the video for "As The Palaces Burn"

[edit] The Photo

Is there any reason why this photo is being used? The kid in it is a murder from New Brunswick. I believe he cut the heads off of two elderly people before fleeing to the United States. Perhaps a better picture could be found.

  • It's being used because it's a mugshot, which makes it public domain. If a free-use image can be made or found to replace it, by all means do. --keepsleeping slack off! 00:24, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
    • I changed the image after uploading a free-use image. I believe it to be more descriptive, though I was not entirely sure how to mark the image to ensure that its use is permitted. Yermo 02:11, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

That Image isn't very clear.. I recently cut my hair in a devilock though. And wouldn't have any problem uploading it. --Eccademus 04:06, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Emo Lock of Fury

The swoop that scene (emo) kids usually sport (with the hair short on the sides and long on top, with all the top swooped off to one side) seems to pretty much be a devilock. But why no mention of any emo bands?

No, the devilock is just a straight bunch of hair down the middle. Those are different. Dumbwhiteguy777 02:27, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Better Picture

I think a better picture needs to be found of a devil lock, anyone care to take a pic of theirs and use that? SynthesiseD 16:20, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

maybe what we need is a gallery.--ghostbear616 00:06, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fact?

Like every aspects of Misfits history/lore there is always two opposing views on everything, Jerry Onlys and Glenn Danzigs. Danzig clamis to be the originator of the devilock when he used to cut his hair like Eddie Munster (from the television show The Munsters). When he started growing it out the look stuck and took on a life of its own. Perhaps this article should just describe the hair style and Misfits connection?

  • Ah, how true, how true. As hard pressed as I would be to agree with Jerry, I must say that Jerry did wear the devilock, as described in the article, while Glenn wore more of a long, wide bangs-style hair-do. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.75.233.139 (talk) 06:07, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Matthieu Chedid

... wears a sort of devilock. It's to make his forehead look like an M.

(non-free image, and huge warning, removed)

Is it a devilock?

[edit] Frullet?

I think someone is over estimating the impact of the mullet on any culture other than white trash, hillbilly and metalhead cultures.

[edit] Name of hair

I have heard the hair style called Devilock but i have also heard it called DreadLock. Is this accurate or false, are they two different styles? (I live in Australia so perhaps terminology differs between regions). 124.171.209.107 (talk) 02:41, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Dreadlocks are different. Dreadlocks can be anywhere on the head, whereas devilocks are only in a certain location. Also, dreadlocks are a certain style of hair that's matted into a rope. I think Devilocks typically aren't matted, but combed/gelled into a lock. -kotra (talk) 19:34, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
