Vandalism problems
Hi. First time seeing this article. I found alot of vandalism. I tried to fix the titles of the sections, but there's still some stuff. The titles said "Nero Sucks" and "DexsterXS will cry." So I removed it to help out. But really, there is still some stuff in there. I don't want to touch the body of text itself. I hope I didn't screw anything up. -Anonymous Contributor
- Thank you very much for catching that! You didn't screw anything up, and you definitely helped. It's rare to see an anonymous user who removes vandalism instead of causing it. You should consider registering with Wikipedia, and checking out the Devil May Cry Task Force if you're interested in DMC in general. Again, thanks! --Boradis 03:34, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
Next-Gen Improvements
The next-gen improvements section is misleading. The quote says it could not be done on current-gen systems, not just the PS3, so it's not contradictory that a 360 version is coming.
Devil May Cry 4 - more extras than all the other games combined?
"He further stated that Devil May Cry 4 will feature more weapons, maneuvers, enemies, locations, music, and cutscenes than all the previous releases combined. It is also being billed as being the longest release yet."
Where is the citation for this? Where is the proof?
Devil May Cry 4 Editing
First, although you are correct that the Playstation 3 citation I gave--just to be fair--does use a lot of words like "may," and "hinted," the other website shows this as an official Xbox 360 game. Also, the Pixel Gamer update you are referring to was written by an individual person; it was not official. That would be like me writing my own webpage or posting to a webpage. The person that talked about the mistranslation that resulted in an update was referring to a Famitsu mistranslation from January 16, 2006; the update occurred on January 20, 2006. The article I am referring to from Famitsu relates to May 18, 2006. This is a big difference. I appreciate your professional attitude. This is a lot better than the sort of thing I have to deal with on the Devil May Cry 4 page. But one thing is clear: Devil May Cry 4 Producer Hiroshi Kobayashi said in the May 18, 2006 issue of Famitsu magazine that Devil May Cry 4 is coming to the Xbox 360 and the Wii, but not the Playstation 3. I have a friend who is Japanese, and he said there is absolutely no mistranslation!
Odd. They announced it as a PSX 3 title at TGS today. Hyde v 17:50, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
If there was no mistranslation of the Famitsu article, there wouldn't be a PS3 version of the game at all. However the game made its playable debut on Septebmer 22 on the console and the exclusivity was re-confirmed since January. The official game site at www.capcom.co.jp/devil4 lists the PS3 console only. Furthermore, the interview was in a January issue, and not in May. There was no second interview of course. This was confirmed by several Japanese residents who happened to correct the mistranslation earlier. The reason why the issue resurfaced in May was explained from the original source:
http://www.pixelgamers.com/xbox360/news/1000628/35/ps3-exclusive-devil-may-cry-no-more.html
It was corrected in several sites as well
http://www. totalvideogames.com/news/DMC4_Not_A_PS3_Exclusive__9125_4394_0.htm
If there is any site that lists the game as an Xbox 360 one, it's clearly an error given the overwhelming evidence that says otherwise. That includes official announcements from Capcom thus far.
Devil May Cry 4 on Xbox 360 as a result of strong Dead Rising sales
Many of the major websites are now saying that Devil May Cry 4 will be appearing on the Xbox 360 due to the fact that Dead Rising for the Xbox 360 has experienced such high sales, which were even higher than expected. Capcom originally thought that Dead Rising would sell approximately 600,000 copies; however, they have now raised that project to over one-million copies sold to consumers. This means that the brand new intellectual property, Dead Rising, will have outsold "sequal" games like Resident Evil 4 on the Playstation 2 and Gamecube. As a result, Capcom of America has made it clear to Capcom of Japan that they want Devil May Cry 4 to be released on the Xbox 360. Here are some major websites that make this clear:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=115489
http://www.gamersreports.com/news/3521/
This is similar to what I wrote in the article: -- mike_mgoblue
Problably not, the Devil May Cry franchise has been will Sony for a while now. Dead Rising was new, and was around the 360 era presumably for that console only, but what if I said it would be for the Ps3? I know dubbed "EXCLUSIVE."
No major site online, or print magazines for that matter, are stating that the game will be appearing on the Xbox 360 console. One random comment from a poster on a message board does not qualify as confirmation that Capcom made an official announcement. He doesn't confirm a version either, and merely suggests that there might be one based on an alleged conversation with a Capcom USA sales representative. He provides no backing of his source however; that's the source for your second link from gamerreports as well. That goes for his bold claims that Dead Rising has outsold the blockbuster hit, Resident Evil 4 as well and Capcom allegedly raising their forecast to a million copies shipped. Furthermore, Next Generation's article quoted an analyst who's speculating (emphasis on speculation) that Capcom may choose to port the title to the Xbox 360. The Tokyo Game Show recently concluded, and no such announcement was made. Therefore, it would be completely untruthful to post information that an Xbox 360 version is coming when the company hasn't officially announced it, or even hinted at the possibility officially. A rumor ignited on a message board, and analyst speculation do not qualify as official hints, let alone confirmation
When Capcom announces a 2nd version officially, it would be appropriate to modify the page to inform people. As the issue stands at the moment, the game is a PlayStation 3 exclusive, which was re-iterated twice this month at the Tokyo Game Show http://ps3.ign.com/articles/734/734457p1.html , and an earlier Famitsu article from the September 13 issue. Should that change, Capcom will announce it at their Investor Relations site as they did when Resident Evil 4 was announced for the PS2 in 2004; the title was originally a Gamecube exclusive:
Well, its like asking Bungie to release Halo3 for the Ps3, Bungie is still a seperate company, but they have been with each other since the beggining. Would you want them to release it for another console?
http://ir.capcom.co.jp/english/
Just thought it was worth mentioning that Bungie isn't a separate company anymore. Microsoft quite literally owns them, in every sense. Also worth noting that they haven't been with each other since the beginning, as Bungie got their start on Macs. And, of course, Capcom gets around quite a bit, so they aren't really "with" anyone.
Still, DMC4 is most definitely exclusive. It might get ported eventually (Capcom seems interested in multiplatform business right now), but as of now we have no reason to believe that it will be.Rabish12 00:10, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
Further confirmation that Capcom's current console exclusives (DMC4, Dead Rising, Lost Planet, and Monster Hunter 3) are to remain that way until further notice:

Truth and history of Devil May Cry 4
In the adjustment I made to the Devil May Cry 4 article, I am simply talking about the history of the game and the fact based information that is happening at Capcom of America and Capcom of Japan. These are facts based on statistics that are quantitatively measured in the articles I referred to. Please allow my addition to the Devil May Cry 4 page to remain. All of the things I mentioned are talked about in each of the articles I gave hyperlinks to. Thanks -- mike_mgoblue
A poster claiming that a Capcom USA representative said that his superiors are asking the parent company to port the game is anything but worthy of being cited as a legitimate source. That also includes an analyst's speculation of what the company might choose to do in the future.
I played it
I work in an office right next to Sony HEadquarters in Aoyama Tokyo, and I went into their open space on the ground floor where people are free to come in and play. Last week I noticed that 7 PLayable PS3 units were out for people to play freely. I played Devil May Cry 4 and Ridge Racer. Any questions?
- Question? No, I don't want any spoiler, but if now you know something that you consider worthy to mention in the article, please do it. Alexlayer 22:40, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
Question? COULD YOU TELL ME IF NERO HAS DEVIL MODE
Why was the Nero character article removed?
Why was the Nero character article removed? Any reasons why?Why don't place the Nero article again?
- Likely because there's so little information about him that it should be confined to the DMC4 article at least until the game's release. Lankybugger 18:52, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Cleanup of 'Known Information', remove quality standards tag at top?
I've done a pretty thorough retooling of the Known Information section; moving information on Nero to the top, consolidating information on Dante's role, removing fan speculation, removing and adding links, fixing spelling, and so on. As of right now, I think it would be OK to remove the Wikipedia quality standards banner. How do we go about requesting that? --Boradis 02:49, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
- Good work on cleaning the article, I removed the tag. --Senshimaru 16:32, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
- Awesome. Thank you very much. --Boradis 06:59, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

- Known Information should be reorganised into seperate sections about various plot and gameplay elements, TBH, otherwise it'll just wind up some gigantic mutant giga-mess when more details start being added. Hyperspacey

- Good to hear. A lot of the facts are currently just kind of in there without attribution. I've got the issue of GI with the cover story, and know about the Famitsu story by way of the IGN summary, but these (and the few other bits of news) don't seem to cover all of the "facts" we have here. --Boradis 19:55, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Regarding Nero's arm and the "more power" line from the trailer
I added a few lines about this a couple of weeks ago, and twice now it's been removed by anonymous IP editors. This information qualifies as "known information," is accurate, I give attribution to the sources of the information, and it is relevent to the game. If anyone disagrees, please let me know. But for the time being, I've put it back in again. --Boradis 19:20, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
"Yay", we're being plagiarized
That "yay" is sarcastic of course. While looking for more sources of info on the game I found this page at PSU.com. At first I thought the text here was plagiarized from PSU.com (happens a lot on Wikipedia), but as I read it I recognized a few sentences that I myself wrote for here. Also, the date for their page is this past Monday (January 26, 2007). I'm not sure what reaction we should have, but I'll send PSU.com an e-mail. I wouldn't be surprised if the rest of the text on that page was also originally Wikipedia content. --Boradis 02:14, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Well whatever. I looked around for info on this, and posted on the help page, but despite me saying in the headline of the section I made that they DID NOT ATTRIBUTE the content to Wikipedia (or provide a link back, or whatever) those idiots just pasted in boilerplate text without actually reading what I wrote. Morons. --Boradis 20:04, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
Release date on Amazon.co.uk
So I see that the UK Amazon is saying the game will come out on July 30, at least in Europe. I can't scan the gaming news Web sites from work anymore, so is there anyone else who can check this bit of info?--Boradis 02:41, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- Well never mind the above. I just added that Capcom is scheduling it for "autumn" of 2007 in Europe and NA, citing GamesIndustry.biz (by way of 1UP.com). --Boradis 20:38, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Regarding the Xbox-360 rumors
The only semi-concrete "evidence" for this was just a hint of a possible rumor from EGM. Seriously, it was a hint of a rumor. Actually, it was a hint of either one rumor or another, which is even less concrete if that's even possible. In the Feb. 2007 issue their Rumor Mill (pg. 42) noted that DMC4 was among the big name PS3 exclusives -- end of sentence, period. Then two sentences later, the writer says that many PS3 exclusives might be moved to 2008, or ported to the Xbox 360. Then, in their next issue (March, 2007), in a caption in the cover story, they say they'd heard that DMC4 might be getting pushed to 2008. So it seems likely that the hint being made in the Feb. issue was that DMC4 was getting delayed, not ported. At least, that's what they thought at press time for the March issue. Now it's been revealed that the game is slated for a vague "autumn" release in NA and the EU. So let me make this clear: NO ONE RELIABLE HAS SAID IT'S GOING TO THE 360. NO. ONE. At least as of today. So even though I, like other zealous fans, would love for it to move to the 360, I'm going to keep killing these rumors unless and until a reliable source can be verified. --Boradis 20:59, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Devil May Cry 5
This game is featured with action-adventure RPG-style, some people think this would release a new game characters such as Dante in all DMC series, Vergil in DMC3 and Nero in DMC4, who's will be the fourth clone in DMC5? denisechan88. 19:46, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Added 360 and PC platforms.

"Exclusive" means nothing for Playstation 3. Devil May Cry 4 is now on Xbox 360 & PC
Now that we know Devil May Cry 4 has been confirmed for the Xbox 360 and PC, I guess the next question is what other Playstation 3 games that were supposedly exclusive will end up on the Xbox 360 and PC. Personally, I bet MGS4, Ace Combat, Tekken, and FF 13 end up on the Xbox 360, too, just like all of the same inside sources of information are suggesting!
- If you've got a cite for this, great! Otherwise, it doesn't go on the page. Sorry. --Boradis 05:35, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

- Oh, well, never mind what I just said. :) Yay, it's gonna be on 360! --Boradis 05:41, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Should we comment on the backlash from DMC4 going multiplatform?
Just a question, but should we include this in the article? It was covered by a couple different news sites so it probably warrants a mention somewhere, but I'm not sure if it should be mentioned here in the series page or as a portion of the Devil May Cry 4 development section. Thoughts? Cheers, Lankybugger ○ speak ○ see ○ 04:09, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
- I thought I had responded to this, but maybe it was on Lankybugger's talk page? Anyhow, what I said then was this wasn't notable enough to include. I've changed my mind somewhat since I've found there is at least one reliable article I know of that deals with this (Capcom responds to fans' rage). A Capcom official posted a response on their official message board (here's the thread, which I got from the above GameSpot article) regarding this, giving some of their reasons. That's about all I think is worthy of inclusion in the article -- not what some fans think is the "general fan reaction." So I'll update the article to include this information. --Boradis 21:02, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

- Yeah, this is a rather brilliant marketing strategy performed by Capcom, it is rather obvious that if they stayed PS3 exclusive the game's sales might have been somewhat affected because of the relatively lower popularity of the platform (for it's price) when comparing it to it's predecessor (PS2) and the Nintendo Wii, by extending to Xbox 360 they have the chance of marketing this to a wider group of consumers (one year head start helps the quantity of consoles sold and thus the number of consoles own) not to mention PCs, so yeah it seems it's quite significant if not to the series to Capcom itself, this might reflect the company's position to other of their flagship. -DDF 21:21, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
