don't i see something that implies north america and also australia on this map, in basically location one would expect?

someone should consider writing a note about the fact that during ancient times maps were probably under the realm of military and commercial intelligence - various countries.. therefore most of the "discovery" dates are most questionable...

my take on reality is that discoveries were announced when the knowledge came into the "public" domain. also the discoveries were likely awarded in a politically correct fashion by the various rulers involved.

in conclusion, the point is that the the actual verifiable evidence should be considered historical bias created by past monarchs with their concentrated efforts in their countries and agendas, which could often work against the validity of the current historical record.
