Devil's Hole

Devils Hole is a deep limestone cave filled with water of approximately 30°C (86°F). This geothermal spring is officially part of Death Valley National Park and located in the Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge in Nevada. Devils Hole branches into deep caverns at least 300 feet deep from an opening at the surface that is approximately 6 feet by 18 feet. According to geologists, the caves were formed over 500,000 years ago[1]. Devils Hole is the only natural habitat of the Devils Hole pupfish, which thrives in the hot water.
