Devanambattu is a small village in Tiruvannamalai district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located 17 kilometers northwest of Tiruvannamalai town.
Devanambattu is primarily a farmers community. Rice (paddy), sugarcane, groundnuts (peanuts) are the main crops grown. Farmers mainly depend on monsoon rains which is good for 6 months. Crops are grown by well irrigation.
Devanambattu and Kattuputhur are twin villages, but primarily called as Devanambattu. This area is also has a vast and wide spread thorny forest with Eucalyptus trees planted by Forest dept.
There is something unique in Kattuputhur village, it has huge pond surrounded with Banyan trees which makes the place scenic and natural. There 1000s of huge bats living in top of the banyan trees. Its unusual to find bats of that size. Hunting bats is prohibited in the village. Violators are tied up to a lamp post and punished for hunting these bats.
Kattuputhur has also beautiful Lord Murugan Temple on a small hill. The village view from temple is beautiful. You can view the surrounding village / green farms. There are several festivals happening at this temple. Especially, the Surasamharam or its called as Sasti few days after diwali.
Kattuputhur has government primary / middle schools.
During summer it gets hotter, even up to 110 degree Fahrenheit. There is water scarcity during summer.
Transportation: from Tiruvannamalai take town buses 5 and 5A to reach Devanamabattu.
