[edit] Synopsis
This film is about two police officers, Dev and Tej (Amitabh Bachchan and Om Puri). Both are best friends but soon they become enemies after Farhaan (Fardeen Khan) drives a wedge between them. Farhaan himself is confused about his father's teaching of non-violence but when his father is murdered, he chooses to embrace violence and take his revenge on Dev who was indirectly involved with the death of his father.
When riots break out due to Farhaan's doing who happens to be under the order of a corrupt minister, Dev and Tej choose their own way in dealing with them. Their conflicting measures and opposition causes a break in their friendship and soon they will have to come to terms with each other's methods.
Caught in the middle is Farhaan's love, Aaliya (Kareena Kapoor) becomes a victim of the rioters.
