Deutsches St. Leger

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Deutsches St. Leger is a Group 3 flat horse race in Germany for three-year-old and above thoroughbreds. It is run over a distance of 2,800 metres (approximately 1¾ miles) at Dortmund Racecourse, Dortmund in late September or early October.

The race has been run at its present venue since 1950, and held Group 2 status from 1972, downgrading to Group 3 in 2005. It is the German version of the English St. Leger Stakes, and prior to 2007 it was restricted to three-year-old colts and fillies only.
