Deutsches Forschungsnetz

DFN, full name "Deutsches ForschungsNetz e.V." (German Research Network), is the German national research and education network (NREN), used for academic and research purposes.

DFN has operated since 1984. Its current network is called "X-WiN", it operates on multi-gigabit speeds, and is linked with 10G links to GÉANT2 (European backbone). The previous name was "G-WiN".
