Deutsche Schule zu Porto, in English German School of Oporto or simply DSP, is a german school located in Oporto, Portugal. In Portugal, it is considered a private school, as in Germany it corresponds to a public school.

The German School of Oporto was established in November 18, 1901. On the day before the official opening, a Thanksgiving mass took place. It was third German school in Portugal following one in Lisbon and one in Amora (was later defunct).

The German School's system is divided like this:
- Kindergarten
- Grundschule (Primary School)
- Gymnasium (Elementary School)
In the last year, the remaining students have to make the exam known as Abitur. The grading system is the following:
1st-4th year:
- very good
- good
- sufficient
- passable
- mediocre
- bad
5th-11th year:
- 1 - very good
- 2 - good
- 3 - sufficient
- 4 - passable
- 5 - mediocre
- 6 - bad
12th year: (similar to the portuguese system)
- 20 to 18 marks - very good
- 17 to 15 marks - good
- 14 to 12 marks - sufficient
- 11 to 10 marks - passable
- 9 to 5 marks - mediocre
- 4 to 0 marks - bad

There are different three different buildings:
[edit] Main Building
The main building is where the rooms for the elementary school are. There are around 40 rooms in the main building. Other rooms:
- Library - Is open between 8:15 AM and 17 PM where students and teachers can use the 6 available computers, the books or dictionaries.
- Computer room - a room where (after teacher's reservation) the students have 20 available computers. The computer lessons also take place in that room
- Teacher's room - the room where the teachers are, when not in classes.
- Test room - a room where (after teacher's reservation) tests are written.
- Physics rooms - rooms where the Physics classes are given. One of those has a projector connected to a computer where many presentations are made.
- Chemistry room
- Biology room
- Music room The music room is equipped with various musical instruments from electric guitar and keyboard to a grand piano and many different percussion instruments.
- Arts room
- Gym
- Party room - room where drama classes are given and where theater plays are played or where parties are given.

A much smaller building where the classes for the primary school students are given. It has around 15 rooms.

Around the same size as the primary school building. This is where the Kindergarten rooms are.
[edit] Outside the building
There are two soccer fields: A bigger one between the primary school and Kindergarten building and a smaller one north to the main building also where other sports can be played. Each building has its main break zone. The Kindergarten has a playground with tricycles, swings and others. Primary school has just a basketball basket and some places for children to climb. Elementary school has to net-less table tennis tables has a lot of banks where students can sit and talk. The roads to the Kindergarten and to the smaller soccer field are also considered part of the elementary school's break zone. Near the small soccer field is a corner called Smoker's corner where smoking students WERE allowed to smoke before there was a law which forbids you to smoke at school.

[edit] Sportbegegnung
The Sportbegegnung (in English Sports Encounter) is an event where the German schools from Oporto, Lisbon, Madrid and Marbella face themselves in sports competitions. Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer and Handball. The 2007 Sportbegegnung took place in Oporto. Some highlights of the competition were shown on Porto Canal, a channel of Oporto.
[edit] Jugend Musiziert
Jugend Musiziert is an event where students from all the German schools of the Iberian peninsula meet each other in a Music contest. The contest takes place each year in a different school.
[edit] "Schüleraustausch Öettingen/Porto"
The Schüleraustausch (Student exchange) between the German schools of Oporto and Öettingen, Germany was created in 2002. Each student participating in the project receives an exchange partner. Each one goes to the opposite city, in different times. The goal of this project is for the students to exchange knowledges, know other cultures, etc...
