Deutsche Dienststelle (WASt)

The Deutsche Dienststelle (WASt) in Berlin, formerly Wehrmachtsauskunftstelle, gives information about the fate of foreign and German soldiers and prisoners of war in Germany.

It started its work on August 26, 1939 with the complete name Wehrmachtsauskunftstelle für Kriegerverluste und Kriegsgefangene (WASt) as part of the Wehrmacht according to No. 77 of the Third Geneva Convention from 1929.

Now it is named Deutsche Dienststelle (WASt) and is part of the administration of Bundesland Berlin.
