Deuce 'n Domino were a professional wrestling tag team that are currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment and wrestling on the SmackDown! brand. They were previously joined by a valet - Deuce's girlfriend and Domino's sister (relationships kayfabe) - named Cherry.

Their gimmick was acting like "greasers", with Cherry formerly accompanying them on roller skates, chomping gum and wearing poodle skirts.

[edit] History

[edit] World Wrestling Entertainment

The team was first established in WWE's farm territory Ohio Valley Wrestling, when Deuce Shade, admitting to the world that Jimmy Snuka is his father, decided to find a better path in life; he described this as something that "spoke to him". Dice Domino, accompanied by his (kayfabe) sister Cherry Pie, made fun at Deuce's expense, but then offered a partnership in which he would "take [Deuce] back to an era that everyone loves". [2]

Deuce, Domino, and Cherry all began working together in OVW in January 2006 as The Throwbacks, and later The Untouchables (having removed the Shade, Dice, and Pie parts of their respective names). On March 19, 2006 Deuce defeated Mike "The Miz" Mizanin to win the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship for him and his partner after Mizanin's partner, Chris Cage, left the business and forced Miz to defend the title on his own. They held the title for less than a month, losing them to Roadkill and Kasey James in a three way tag team match that also involved Kenny and Mikey of the Spirit Squad. The team won the OVW Tag Team Championship two other times. They also won the Deep South Wrestling Tag Team Championship after making a surprise appearance at a Deep South show. When they lost the OVW titles to Cody Runnels and Shawn Spears they also seemingly lost Cherry, who smiled at Spears and Runnels after the match, then became their valet for a short time, before turning on them and joining The Untouchables again.

Before they were on television, Deuce 'n Domino competed in dark matches before tapings of SmackDown! and ECW. On January 19, 2007 Deuce, Domino, and Cherry debuted on the SmackDown! brand[3], retaining their greaser gimmick and adding to their ring entrance an arrival in a 50's era car. Their first two matches on the brand had them squashing jobber teams before they met up with and defeated WWE Tag Team Champions Paul London and Brian Kendrick in non-title matches. As a result they kayfabe complained to WWE headquarters that they were being overlooked and had a scheduled ladder match with London and Kendrick defending against three other teams changed to a standard tag team match against them,[4] but with the title on the line they came up short.[5]

For the month after they lost to the champions they weren't seen on SmackDown!, finally returning on the April 6 episode to observe London & Kendrick during a match. The next week they received another title shot, only to get themselves disqualified for being too rough and not following the referee's instructions.[6] They finally defeated London and Kendrick for the titles on the April 20 edition of SmackDown! in Milan, Italy after London attempted a moonsault at ringside and missed, leaving him unable to continue making Kendrick easy prey for a West Side Stomp ending their nearly year long reign with the titles.[7] They continued their feud with London and Kendrick until the former champions were drafted to the RAW brand in June.[8]

At Vengeance they held an open challenge for the tag team championship where they were met by Hall of Famers Sgt. Slaughter and Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka. After mocking the once great wrestlers, Deuce was hit by (his father) Snuka's flying body press only to roll it into a pin causing Deuce & Domino to retain the tag team titles.[9] At the June 26 taping of SmackDown!, Domino suffered a broken nose in a match against the RAW tag team Cryme Tyme.[10] Their title reign as WWE Tag Team Champions would come to an end on August 31, on SmackDown, where they lost to the face / heel team of Matt Hardy and Montel Vontavious Porter.[11][12][13] The duo would face off against the champions in a title rematch at the pay-per-view Unforgiven but once again walked away defeated.[14]

In March 2008, Cherry parted ways with Deuce and Domino to portray a face, aligned with Michelle McCool. The split was further cemented in an April 2008 WWE.com segment in which Deuce and Domino, along with new associate Maryse, insulted Cherry's fashion sense that they feel kept her from winning a SmackDown Diva competition. Soon after, in another WWE.com exclusive, Deuce and Domino officially dumped Cherry from the group, saying she was "getting a big head." On May 23 the trio defeated Cherry, with Jesse and Festus in a Six Person Tag Team Match when Maryse pinned Cherry.
