[edit] Perfect

I believe this article is pretty close to perfect. It's an example for every page. I give it A-Class rating.--Golich17 21:46, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

To get to A-status, this page would need far more citations/references.Gittinsj 01:52, 19 March 2007 (UTC)gittinsj

[edit] Gerald Ford Terminal?

"The Wayne County Airport Authority has formally announced on December 28 to change the name of the North Terminal in honor of Michigan native and now deceased former president Gerald Ford to the Gerald Ford Terminal." I cannot find any reference to such a name change on metroairport.com or the websites of the Detroit Free Press or Detroit News. A Google search for "Gerald Ford Terminal" gets no hits. Is there a source for this? 63.76.231.130 04:31, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

I heard that WXYZ 7 News announced that this was going to happen. I couldn't find anything on any of the local news station websites, as well as a Yahoo! and Google search, and a search through the metroairport website.--68.41.96.184 22:32, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
I emailed Detroit Metropolitan Airport. According to the person who emailed me back, the terminal has not been named yet, and their were no considerations of any names at the time. The person said the terminal will most likely be named near opening date which will be most likely in July 2008.--Golich17 20:47, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
More so, Metro Airport recently stated in the Detroit Free Press that they will be possibly putting the name up for sale. They stated that a company name would be out of the question, but possibly a notable executive of a company might buy the naming rights to North Terminal. Secondly, clocks in the McNamara Terminal and the new North Terminal will also be sold out to companies desiring to place their logo on the clock I would assume. Lastly, Metro announced that they will also be putting the 8 play areas located in the McNamara Terminal naming rights for sale also possibly by a company. A reference to these statements will be added as proper citations are found at a later time.--Golich17 00:16, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 1>2>3 PARK

Metro Airport recently had the new 1>2>3 PARK concept posted on their website. It will soon show up at the "Big Blue Deck" and parking lots. The McNamara Terminal parking garage will have it in the summer. It's not a matter of it being an instructional manual, it's a fact.--Golich17 02:49, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

The way it was written, it looked like an instruction manual (actually it looked like it was copied directly from the airport website). If it's re-added, it should be factual, stating that it will enable travelers to pay by swiping a credit card. DB (talk) 04:25, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Beijing Service

As direct flights are only supposed to be shown as international ones with no plane change, shouldn't Beijing be removed? Leg one is from DTW-PEK on a 747-400 and the second leg onwards to PEK is on an Airbus A330-200. Clearly its not a true direct flight if it involves such an aircraft change. NW036 21:53, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Yes, you are correct.Gittinsj 06:13, 13 March 2007 (UTC)gittinsj
I have removed Beijing from the list since it requires a plane change. Bucs2004 23:57, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Brussels and Düsseldorf date change

According to the link from Northwest Airlines [1] the Brussels and Düsseldorf routes have been changed to June 5 for Düsseldorf and June 15 for Brussels. Anyone what to put any input in this? Spongefan 22:57, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Seperation of domestic/international flights

I've noticed that at a few US airports, some airlines domestic and international destinations are seperated. This is not set up in the standard form as set forth in the ProjectWiki Airport guide. Plus, when it's being done, it's inconsistent even within the airport page - i.e. DL and UA destinations being seperated at LAX, but AA and NW remaining intact. So, stop doing it. Thanks. [edit] Good Article Status

I believe that this article is qualified for Good-Article Status... or at least able to be nominated. Please help me in creating this article into a "good" article.--Golich17 02:53, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] On hold...

Article needs some issues resolved:

  • This parenthetical remark needs to be rephrased: "(Today's Runways 3L/21R and 9L/27R in 1949 and Runway 4R/22L in 1950)." Resolved--Golich17 17:43, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
  • Numbers under 100 are spelled out per WP:MOS. Resolved--Golich17 17:57, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
  • "It still operates internationally" should be rephrased. Resolved--Golich17 17:40, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
  • "Gov't" needs to be spelled out. (2.2) Resolved--Golich17 17:31, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
  • The end of 2.3 and all 2.4 is not sourced. Resolved--Golich17 16:54, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
  • "Since it will be a post-9/11 terminal" should be rephrased. Resolved--Golich17 17:33, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
  • Cell phone lane (3) should probably be wikified. What do you mean by wikified?--Golich17 17:59, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
  • Section 5 may need to be sourced. Would most likely have to source news articles with various names... is that fine?--Golich17 17:59, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

This is a very comprehensive article, however. --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 04:43, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

  • I believe I have resolved all disputes regarding this article. All the suggested edits have been made in some way or form. I hope this is good enough to create this article into a "good" one.--Golich17 16:56, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
    • Passed. Comprehensive, with spatial organization, describes many aspects of the airport. Further ideas might be criticism of the airport, environmental stuff, etc. --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 04:40, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

This article is still listed as "On Hold" on WP:GAC. Is that merely an oversight? Plasticup T/C 05:07, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Misc. Musings

Should Bishop be linked here? Flint is 50 miles north of DTW and has regularly scheduled service (including to DTW). It would almost make sense to either drop it or add Toledo as it is in the same radius/sphere of influence. Also, the logo linked does not appear to have any fair use rationale to it. Could I have possibly overlooked it? Spryde 03:14, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] FCO

I have removed Rome as a destination for Northwest Airlines. It is no longer bookable on nwa.com and it is longer listed on the current route map. Please do not add FCO again. No longer to resume service to Rome...based on this edit here [2]. Thanks! Bucs2004 03:01, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

It is bookable but it looks to be part of their route consolidation plan. You have to go through AMS and switch to KLM to get there. Spryde 11:15, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Metroairportlogo.gif

Image:Metroairportlogo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Future Service

DTW is looking great, with the new North Terminal set to open in 2008. Are there any new airlines besides China Southern that plan to or will serve Metro Airport in the near future?

As of now there has been no announcements as to any new airlines serving Detroit. However, Virgin America has stated that they will serve Detroit and a handful of other destinations within 5 years of initial service, which was a couple months ago.--Golich17 (talk) 00:38, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
One bad thing though is that it seems Spirit Airlines has been slowly but surely removing routes from Detroit. Service to Boston and San Francisco both have been cut. With that being said, I'm sure there are more to come unfortunately. Hopefully I'm wrong.--Golich17 (talk) 00:40, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
Aeroméxico will be adding service in Detroit. See the McNamara Terminal section in this page for more information.--Golich17 (talk) 22:50, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] KLM DTW-AMS service

I have readded KLM as a airline to operating out of DTW. Northwest did not announce the route on their website but they do appear in their schedules on March 30, 2008. Thanks! Bucs2004 (talk) 19:36, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

  • They actually did make it official that KLM will be flying one daily route to DTW. Also, many forums in Airliners.net have said that KLM will have one daily route to DTW on behalf on NW.--Golich17 (talk) 22:51, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] A-Class review

I think this article is A-Class or at least very close to it, I'd like to see it put up for a review 75.38.212.83 (talk) 19:33, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

I put it up for review yesterday. Hopefully all goes well as it does deserve A-Class status. It really is a factual and detailed article with all the right information.--Golich17 (talk) 23:21, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
