[edit] Academics at Detroit ISD
DISD claims to be dedicated to academics, having a very high emphasis on the TAKS test and on attendance. The school district students are also active participators in UIL Academics. Criticisms have been made about the district, with a very low percentage of students pursuing higher education.
[edit] Athletics at Detroit ISD
The district places a big emphasis on their athletic department regardless of performance, often unintentionally overshadowing their participation in UIL Academic Competitions. They are home to a football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, track, powerlifting, and a cross country team.
