The Detroit Fury were an Arena Football League team. The team began play in 2001 and was based in Auburn Hills, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit, at the Palace of Auburn Hills, which is also home of the Detroit Pistons of the National Basketball Association and the Detroit Shock of the Women's National Basketball Association. The team was co-owned by William Davidson, along with William Clay Ford, Jr., the owner of the National Football League Detroit Lions. On September 20, 2004, the AFL announced the termination of this franchise, and that its players would be made available to the remaining teams in a dispersal draft.
