Detroit Cadillac

The Detroit Cadillac Plant, also known as the Clark Street Assembly Plant', was an automobile manufacturing plant built in the early 1900's. This plant, which was located in Detroit, Michigan on Clark Street near Michigan Avenue in southwest Detroit, was the main manufacturing center and headquarters for the Cadillac Motor Car Company. Numerous Cadillacs were assembled there. The last vehicles to be assembled there were the Cadillac Brougham and the Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser station wagon when the plant closed in 1987. This plant was 5 stories high, and its layout was very inefficient, which along with the age of the facility were the main factors in General Motors decision to close the plant.
The site of the plant was redeveloped into the 88-acre Clark Street Technology Park in 1997 by General Motors and three other partners, and is geared toward attracting minority-owned auto supplier.
