TV.com summary

Detention is a cartoon which premiered on Kids' WB! on September 11, 1999, and was created by Bob Doucette (who had previously worked as a producer for Histeria!). This is one of the shortest lived programs by Warner Bros. Animation and it followed the exploits of a group of rebellious preteen children from Benedict Arnold Middle School who, try as they may, continually find themselves in detention. 13 episodes of the show were produced for the 1999-2000 television season and later shown in reruns on Kids' WB!'s short-lived "Fraturday" block before being taken off soon after. The show has not been seen on television airwaves since then.

[edit] Characters

  • Eugenia P. Kisskillya (Kathleen Freeman) - The Physical Education teacher and detention monitor of Benedict Arnold Middle School, Miss Kisskillya serves as the antagonist to the children. Having been a military sergeant in the Marine Corps., Miss Kisskillya bosses the children around like such and almost always pronounces "detention" as "dee-tennnn-shun!!". Her facial apperance and bossy attitude are very similar to the Queen of Hearts from Disney's version of Alice in Wonderland (1951 film)
  • Shareena Wickett (Tara Strong) - A 12-year-old goth girl considered to be the leader of the kids who star in the show. Shareena prefers to be a free spirit and finds pleasure in the sublime. Her beliefs are not taken seriously by her parents. Her hobbies include reading horror stories and performing séances. She also has a pet pig.
  • Emmit Roswell (Billy West) - A conspiracy theorist who believes that intelligent life exists in outer space and is determined to make contact with aliens. He possesses distinct leadership qualities and is sometimes seen as a second-in-command (and thought by some to be a love interest) to Shareena.
  • Jim Kim (Roger Eschbacher) - A shy kid with a love for comic book superheroes, frequently bringing up DC Comics superheroes in conversation. He also even takes on the characters' attributes at inopportune times, such as trying to escape detention disguised as Batman in a promotional spot (only to be caught by the real Batman, prompting him to remark "I like Superman better anyway!").
  • Ramone "Gug" Gugleamo (Carlos Alazraqui) - A short Latino kid with a short temper. Constantly left out of competitive sports, Gug constantly picks fights with kids twice his own size and has even wanted to take down Kisskillya.
  • Duncan Bubble - A quiet boy who is always playing with a yo-yo and never speaks. He instead uses his yo-yo to spell out messages (for example, "Thanx Guys","Boring",and "Yeah"), accompanied by an electronic voice reading said message.
  • Lemonjella and Orangejella LaBelle (Tia and Tamera Mowry) - A pair of identical twin African-American sisters. As the geniuses of the group, they've been known to get themselves in trouble by hacking into the school computers and deleting library fines. Their scientific descriptions also sometimes confuse Miss Kisskillya. They also sometimes have a bit of competitive edge between each other.
  • Shelley Kelley (Pamelyn Ferdin) - An always-happy girl who wears a Ladybug Scout uniform every day. She constantly kisses up to Miss Kisskillya and has a crush on Emmit. As a result, she is greatly detested by the other kids, whom she wishes to be friends with.
