Det Ny Theater

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Det Ny Teater is an established theatre in Copenhagen.

Det Ny Teater was established in 1908. The theater has more than 1.000 seats, and with more 12.000 m2 is one of Denmark's largest theaters. In 1990 the theater was closed indefinitely because the building was worn down and the theater had run with a large decifit for many years.

The theater was restored and reopened in 1994. The restoration process became a pilot project for the European Union and received the architectural award Europa Nostra. The result has been priced as one of the most beautiful theaters in Europe and with great technical facilities.
