[edit] Civility

This is unacceptable. Swearing unnecessarily (even in other languages) is frowned upon. Please don't do it again. --Deskana (talk) (review me please) 01:44, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

okay i will respect it, nevertheless, I'm a bit upset to the bahavior of the User talk:R9tgokunks moreover I'm not the first one to revert his work on the article Alsace. This last reversion was to much and i correctly accept that during the reversion I was totaly upset, but I had some reason how can people who are at thousands of miles away from Alsace to think that Alsace still is a part of Germany, or it should be?... while some others, like me, are living in this french land. user:Paris75000 01:53, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
The addition was probably not suitable under WP:NPOV, yes, but giving the user a {{test4}} was a bit over the top. --Deskana (talk) (review me please) 01:54, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] What should I do?

I was fixing up the You article (thanks to your tip! Thanks!) when I saw some text that was obviously vandalism. Of course, I deleted the text and notified the vandal, but a message on the vandal's talk page says that he was very close to being blocked. I was going to notify the administrator about this, but I don't know if I should do this. What should I do? A•N•N•Afoxlover PLEASE SIGN, ANYONE!!! 01:57, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Firstly, consider using the test templates, such as {{test}}, {{test2}} etc., remembering to subst the templates. Secondly, don't insult ANYONE on Wikipedia, not even vandals. Thirdly, I will keep an eye on that user and block if neccessary. Fourthly, you can report vandals to WP:AIV, but please be sure to read the instructions on the page. --Deskana (talk) (review me please) 02:04, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Undeletion

I've reversed your speedy deletion of User:Qmwnebrvtcyxuz/signatures, and included it in the Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Autograph books with the other ones. While recreated page is a speedy deletion criteria, it generally only is when the page was deleted via process, and the original deletion appeared to be out of process. Personally I don't care one way or another about that particular page, but feel it's best not to esclate a deletion debate away from discussion by having out of process deletions. After the debate is over (even if it's a keep or no-consensus result) if you want to re-speedy-delete that page I will not argue over it. Thank you, — xaosflux Talk 02:39, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

PS, I've blanked and protected that page so that it will be available to !voters in the mfd, but should reduce the chance of it being disruptive in the interim. — xaosflux Talk 02:46, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
Alright then. --Deskana (talk) (review me please) 12:15, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Comic Relief does Fame Academy

I wonder if you could help me out. I have recently split the article Fame Academy into a seperate page for the celebrity Comic Relief Does Fame Academy, however on researching from the official website for the show, the correct capitalization is "Comic Relief does Fame Academy]]. I tried to move the page, but as there is already a re-direct at this location it won't let me. I have put a request on Wikipedia:Requested_moves#Uncontroversial_proposals however I'm trying to get a speedy change, as all of the links that WERE pointing to Fame Academy that are meant for the Comic Relief does Fame Academy have now been changed to link to the new location.

So in short, would you mind helping me out in moving the page from Comic Relief Does Fame Academy to Comic Relief does Fame Academy. I have moved all other wikipedia links, so just a redirect on the old page would be fine. I asked you as you wrote on my talkpage earlier! Thanks in advance for your help. Timclare (talk) (sign here) 13:05, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

I fixed the problem for you. By the way, please don't simply copy Wikitext and paste it into another article. This is a cut and paste move, and it violates the GFDL, the license which all edits to Wikipedia are released under. This can cause copyright problems for Wikipedia. This time I was able to fix the problem by performing a history merge, but things can sometimes get quite sticky if people can't merge the histories. Please be aware of this for the future. Thanks. :-) --Deskana (talk) (review me please) 13:46, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the speed. Sorry! Timclare (talk) (sign here) 13:49, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
No need to apologise, there was no harm done in this case, and you won't make the same mistake again. Don't worry about it! --Deskana (talk) 13:53, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The Doctor

User:Doctor35 has repeatedly been adding nonsense to articles. Specifically those that relate to World Wrestling Entertainment and ... Bratz ... yeah is said it. He's practically been making it seem like the two are related by adding stupid stuff such as stating that Bratz new video will be released by WWE. Now, I don't know about you but I find it hard to believe that a Wrestling promotion would take much interest in purchasing a brand of dolls made for girls. He has also been using many sockpuppets to do his stuff. The one I most recently found was User:Doctor39 but I know there are more. Could you help deal with this vandal's nonsense please? I'm getting tired of reverting ... those... articles. -- bulletproof 3:16 01:48, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Yup, him and his sock are still going at it... -- bulletproof 3:16 22:45, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
And... they're still going at it... [1] -- bulletproof 3:16 22:35, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks anyways.-- bulletproof 3:16 01:45, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
Don't have the time to deal with this, sorry. Perhaps try WP:ANI? --Deskana (talk) 01:46, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] I need help with You

Someone has placed an image of an Uncle Sam poster on the You article, with the caption "Uncle Sam wants you!" What should be done? It's not really what an encyclopedia should be, but it's funny. (:-D) Right? Anyway, what should be done? A•N•N•Afoxlover 14:52, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

It's not appropriate. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. Unless it serves a purpose other than humour, it should be removed. And I did so. --Deskana (talk) 15:38, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
Okay, thanks! Just wondering. ;-) A•N•N•Afoxlover 17:39, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/You

With respect, it seems to me that the reasoning in your close is at odds with the distinction between Wikipedia and Wiktionary articles explained at Wikipedia:Wikipedia is not a dictionary. That Wiktionary articles can contain much more than a definition is explained at that policy page and was pointed out by Uncle G and others in the discussion. Because of this, and because the discussion is only 2 days old, would you mind reverting yourself? Thanks, Pan Dan 16:03, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

I think it's a totally ridiculous assumption for people to think that Wikipedia NOT having an article on the word You is a sensible suggestion. I'm starting to think that people have never used a dictionary before. If you want to revert me then fine, you can pick at the rules so that it gets an extra few days before being closed by someone else as a keep. But I won't revert myself. --Deskana (talk) 16:33, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
I highly recommend the content (not just the title) of Wikipedia:Wikipedia is not a dictionary -- it's a good read, and it'll rock your world!  :-) Anyway, thanks for giving me permission to revert, I've done it. Pan Dan 16:49, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
I've read it before and am familiar with its content, thank you. You're totally missing the point of what I'm trying to say. The title of that page is "Wikipedia is not a dictionary", not "Wikipedia is not Wikitionary". --Deskana (talk) 16:51, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
This is going to be an interesting AfD, to be sure. (BTW, did you get my email ...?) Cheers, Yuser31415 05:56, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Deskana,

This RfA probably hasn't gone the way you thought it might. I just wanted to give you a heads-up. If you want to withdraw your nomination, now's the time. - Richard Cavell 23:40, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

I don't much fancy withdrawing the nomination, that's pretty unprecedented. Thanks for the heads up though, I didn't even realise he'd accepted it yet. --Deskana (talk) 04:19, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

A question: I noticed this comment you left on Yuser's talk page. I was wondering if you could clarify what you meant? - Kathryn NicDhàna 05:39, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

It refers to this and the fact that I'm disappointed about the way it's turning out. --Deskana (talk) 06:01, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] About Da.Tomato.Dude

Da.Tomato.Dude has signed my autograph page, but his signature was very large. Is that a problem? And also, his contributions show that he has rarely worked on the encyclopedia part of Wikipedia. Is that a problem? A•N•N•Afoxlover 02:04, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Personal info

Not sure how thorough you're going to be removing personal info but you might want to delete the edit summaries of WP:AIV. —Wknight94 (talk) 01:41, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

That'd probably make the database go crazy. It froze when someone deleted George W. Bush to do something similar (so I've been told), deleting AIV would probably do something similar. I've sent a request for oversight. --Deskana (talk) 01:43, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
You're probably right. I had a heart-stopping few minutes a while back when I deleted Hilary Duff to clean out edit summaries... —Wknight94 (talk) 01:52, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Nicktroplois article

the reason it was deleted is because the game was down and there was no reliable source but the game is up now and it just makes no sense, please check it out User:Atomic Religione

You may have better luck with WP:DRV. I am not WP:DRV. In addition, AfD isn't a vote, so you've misunderstood what the purpose of the process is. --Deskana (talk) 22:32, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

I realize, but as an administrator ,don't you have the power to override a protection against restoration? Please restore it. We want the page back.Please.Dachshundboy25 01:12, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Autograph pages

[edit] Vegetto

If possible, could you protect Vegetto? He claims that he'll "take it into his own hands" soon. I don't know if that's a justifiable reason for protection, though. Nemu 22:20, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

I'll take a look at it. --Deskana (talk) 02:33, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Yuser31415

From what I understand you mentor him in some way, so I thought I'd bring this to your attention. After seeing an ANI post I quickly looked over the situation, and discovered this:

He reverts good faith and correct edits as vandalism

He issues a totally incorrect blatant vandal warning

Makes an ANI post stating "I am not entirely sure whether this editor is contributing in good faith or not", which means the BV warning was clearly incorrect

Here's my explanation about why the IPs edit was correct

He also went through the IPs contributions reverting them as vandalism, when in my opinion they were nothing of the sort:

Not vandalism all the IP did was bypass the redirect, Portuguese National Republican Guard is a redirect to Portuguese Republican National Guard

How is that vandalism?

Not even close to vandalism, in fact it's fixing a clear grammatical error!

Inserting a line break is vandalism?!

Regarding the Policja article I assume (as I can't find any guidelines, but I assume there is one) that the "in other languages" should be sorted alphabetically, as it normally seems to be on other articles?

I really think he needs to calm down on being bold and takes time to actually look at situations and use better judgement, something which multiple people said on his RfA but has seemingly been ignored. Thanks. One Night In Hackney303 03:22, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

I understand your concerns. You've expressed yourself well without being incivil or overly critical, I really admire that. I would suggest taking this up with Yuser directly first. Thanks. --Deskana (talk) 03:25, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, will do. Can I just ask for clarification on the "in other languages" sorting first please? One Night In Hackney303 03:30, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, I'm confused. What do you mean with regards to "in other languages"? --Deskana (talk) 03:41, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
It's on the sidebar underneath the toolbox, depending on what skin you're using. The IP's version sorted them alphabetically, which Yuser reverted. Looking at Bobby Sands they are sorted alpahbetically, so I assume that's how they should be sorted but I'm not aware of a guideline but I assume there must be one. One Night In Hackney303 03:46, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Well, sorting them alphabetically makes the most sense, regardless of whether there is a guideline about it. Perhaps it's mentioned in Wikipedia:Interwiki somewhere? --Deskana (talk) 04:01, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Can't find anything specific, but as you say it makes the most sense. I've left a message on his talk page anyway, thanks for the help. One Night In Hackney303 04:22, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Christianity on alcohol

I saw that you moved Christianity and alcohol over the redirect Christianity on alcohol. I'm going to reverse that because the latter has a negative connotation, at least in American English, of illicit use or abuse (e.g., "(someone) is on alcohol or drugs") -- an idiom that is sometimes used sometimes metaphorically (e.g., "Map Hacks on Crack"). The former also parallels other similarly named articles Islam and alcohol, Homosexuality and Christianity, Christianity and slavery, Christianity and antisemitism, etc. --Flex (talk|contribs) 12:57, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

OK then, no worries. I was unaware of the negative connotation, being British myself. --Deskana (talk) 15:06, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Langan/Wales

Thankyou for your concern. I recognise that Mr Wales may well not respond to the note I placed for his attention. I nevertheless continue to believe that, as a potentially libelous matter, it is preferable that he be notified, thereby giving him the option of taking steps should he wish to do so, and avoiding the possibility that he may have taken steps if only he had been informed. FNMF 08:28, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] I'm confused with something

An unregistered user posted something on my talk page that said, "no adminship for you". I took a look at that user's contributions, and (s)he has never edited Wikipedia, other than his userpage and talk page, and my talk page. Is this vandalism? A•N•N•Afoxlover hello! 14:53, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

No, but it's not particularly helpful either. You can remove it if you like. I suggest you read WP:VAND too. --Deskana (talk) 16:24, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Qmwnebrvtcyxuz's autograph book

I saw Jimbo Wales's name on there and I couldn't believe it, but Jimbo Wales is nowhere in the edit history of the page. Is this a fake? If so, what should I do about it? A•N•N•Afoxlover hello! 18:45, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

You really should just leave this autograph book thing a rest, and you should start working on the encyclopedia instead. Acalamari 19:16, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
I would, but there seems to be a problem almost every time I edit. And also, there's nothing going on in my watchlist, so I just look at other things if I can't find anything to edit. A•N•N•Afoxlover hello! 02:53, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Daz Sampson

Hi. Last year you threatened on the talk page of the Daz Sampson article to block anyone who added references to Ian Huntley. There is an editor currently editing under the anon IP of 86.6.207.111 and the username of Brine Pepaz who is continually adding such allegations. I have reverted them twice but he is continually restoring them. Please can you have a look? Thanks. TomPhil 13:37, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up. I've blocked the IP, I'll look at the username now. --Deskana (talk) 21:05, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Strange error

I think the server got messed up with one of your edits. [2] It appeared to have reverted back to an earlier state. I did a revert, but that means it would have lost whatever new comment you made. I apologize for that loss. Just letting you know. IrishGuy talk 03:53, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] User:Cwb61 on WP:AN

Hi, Deskana, I wrote a query to you here, I hope you don't mind. Compare also the "Delete my user account" thread above. Is it ok if I recreate the user talkpage history, or was there something weird there?Best, Bishonen | talk 16:31, 24 March 2007 (UTC).

[edit] In regards to Power Level

I see you were the administrator that closed Power level in Dragonball. I've run into a bit of a question here. There is another article that I found was redirecting to it. The articles are only loosely related, so I undid the (recent) redirect. Is it best to delete this one too, Nom it for deletion, or leave as is? The article is Ki (Dragon Ball). While I disagree with your decision to delete (I would have thought at least a continued debate was in order), I do want to follow the process appropriately. Please advise.

[edit] A favour, please

Deskana, I'm really flustered, could you please do a quick favour for me? Would you please look at WP:ANI#Gordon_James_Klingenschmitt_admins_needed-_people_outing_users and tell me where in my posts either there or on Talk:Gordon_James_Klingenschmitt I revealed someone's personal information? I really did not intend to but, if I did, I will immediately redact it. I'm just not getting straight answers from anyone at ANI. If you want to, e-mail me and tell me on my talk page that you did. Thank you. --Iamunknown 19:59, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for looking. I too am confused. I think a few users thought I was revealing personal information because the comments were redacted, yet I addressed the commentators by their handles. I added back in their handles. I hope everything is all right. --Iamunknown 20:09, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

I'm watching your contributions. A lot of your edits are correcting similar spelling mistakes to articles. I assume you're getting a list from somewhere? --Deskana (talk) 21:12, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
No, I don't have a list. Remember that maroon box on my userpage? I haven't done that in a while, so that's what I'm doing to improve Wikipedia's search. A•N•N•Afoxlover hello! 21:14, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

Hello again. Is there any particular reason my report is being ignored. I notice several others made after mine was filed have been resolved. 163.167.129.124 09:01, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
No idea, I'm afraid. You could try moving it to the bottom of the page. --Deskana (talk) 22:51, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Actually, there isn't one. That strikes me as slightly odd. Oh well. I simply deleted the image, and reuploaded it. See Image:Cocker_Spaniel_Puppy.jpg. --Deskana (talk) 20:47, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for taking the time to do it, Deskana; it's appreciated. Unless you've already deleted it, should I move the old talk page to the new one? That way we'll still have our discussion about the image. Acalamari 20:50, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Deskana - were you actually serious about the above username not being a violation of WP:U? Cheers - RJASE1 Talk 22:33, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

I never said that. My point was, that since someone is disagreeing with you, it's more appropriate to take it to WP:RFC/N. --Deskana (talk) 22:34, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RFA advice

Hi Deskana, I see you've been giving RFA advice to User:ANNAfoxlover.

If you could provide me with some advice on RFA that would be helpful. The page is at User:SunStar Net/Adminship advice.

All advice is welcome.

Note: Another user is offering to nominate me, but it's just a question of when... --sunstar nettalk 22:37, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

You want me to put it on a subpage? Surely that's unnecessary? Can't I just put it on your talk page? --Deskana (talk) 22:40, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
  • Sure, post on my talk page if you want. That's merely a notice page. --sunstar nettalk 22:45, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalised pages

User:Gmaurer40 has been vandalising a number of pages recently - 2006 Kansas City Chiefs season, Michael Jackson, John Kerry, Wikipedia:Introduction, Dead Sea scrolls, Katharina von Bora, User:CTSWyneken. Could you please do something with that user. Cwb61 15:18, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ben Avery Shooting Facility

Since you granted my request for unprotection on this article I thought I should notify you that I've put up at least a preliminary version of a new article that I hope addresses the WP:N concerns you mentioned in the unprotection. Thank you for the quick response on the request, as well. Arkyan(talk) 22:50, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Stubborn anon

Is there any certain method of dealing with a stubborn anon when it's just a content dispute? At Super Mario Kart, 72.129.80.89 reverted it back to a version full of game guide information. I doubt talking to him any more will help as he has already decided that the information is important. Do I just have to wait for him to give up or become bored of it? I'll get myself involved. It's harder for people to win against me ;-) --Deskana (talk) 23:08, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hitler's Chromosome

There are alot of things that people put on the talk pages but they can put pretty much anything on the talk pages because they are the talk pages. Alot of people view wikipedia so there is a chance that someone who knows hitler's nephews and could ask them for a DNA sample. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Danny6777 (talkcontribs) 00:12, 28 March 2007 (UTC).

Please, don't try to get pedantic about this. It's inappropriate. If you don't have anything appropriate to add, please don't add anything. --Deskana (01:14 28th March 2007 (GMT))

Can you please check these this changes. IMO, they are personal opinions, irrelevant to the article and violates BLP but this user continues to add this and I am close to a 3RR. Tintin 07:19, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Vandal

I see you have recently dealt with requests from Giovanni Giove on the page for protection. I just wanted to let you know (and ask you if anything can be done about it) that Giovanni has a long history of edit-warring and nationalistic POV pushing. His targets are especially articles about people or events in medieval Dalmatia where he is removing references to anything connecting to Croatia or anything Croatian. Recent examples are his changes to Republic of Ragusa or undiscussed changes and moves of various articles (f.e. Jakov Mikalja to Giacomo Micaglia). Can something be done about this vandal? --AjdemiPopushi 12:07, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

You should be reluctant about calling someone who you believe to be a "nationalistic POV push[er]" a "vandal". This term has a stigma attached to it and can quite often be derogatory. I'm quite sure you didn't mean anything by it when you wrote that comment, but please be aware of that. My advice is that you take the issue to WP:ANI, where many administrators can comment on the issue and take action if appropriate. If it's just a content dispute, reading WP:DR would be more appropriate. Good luck. --Deskana (talk) 17:59, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Impression-suggestion

If you don't mind a tip from an old fart... All the unseemly repeated defensive posts by you arguing with others here aren't helpful, and I submit, make one wonder whether there is something personal involved for you with this user. I appreciate you may have some ego on the line in this, but should you??? Make your case, try to limit your rebuttals to just addressing questions, perhaps indulge in one rebuttal at most. It's a hard enough decision for the rest of us when things get so lengthy, and it's better to let others carry the case forward, in most all cases--especially when you're the nominator. In this case, you are pushing against a long tradition, which is troublesome at best, so let the community air it out, as you've made your position more than clear. Best regards // FrankB 13:58, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

I understand your concerns with my "arguing", but that's not what I'm doing. I'm attempting to explain my reasons for deletion as it seems the users opposing aren't opposing because they disagree with what I'm writing but because they just think it's wrong. --Deskana (talk) 17:36, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RE:Deleting my Subpages

I'm trying to be civil, but, what's the reason that you want to delete my subpages? I can argue that I have been contributing to Wikipedia (well, editing/rving would be correct...), so, what's the point? Some I'd like to have deleted, but you should've noticed me when you deleted my Body Shop page. Protect Tomato Rights!(sign the petition!)

May I point out that my welcome thing has no fancy stuff? I'm not trying to pick a fight here, Deskana, but, what's wrong with editing user talk pages (when most edits are warnings and welcomes)? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Da.Tomato.Dude (talkcontribs) 16:53, 28 March 2007 (UTC).
Ah. I see. So, how are speedy deletion stuff non-encyclopedic...? I don't spend every minute of every day here. It happens to be spring break, I happen to be on WikiBreak, and I just so happen to have just found out how to organize articles into good/bad. I'm trying here. Protect Tomato Rights!(sign the petition!)
PS: That wasn't supposed to be hostile-sounding. Sorry.

Soo...what do you want me to do? I actually worked hard on those subpages, so I don't want them to get deleted. Protect Tomato Rights!(sign the petition!)

Not the deletions. (The deletions, quite frankly, are unreasonable and don't make sense.) I meant the whole "Edit more!". Protect Tomato Rights!(sign the petition!)

PS: I was not, uh, Canvassing for votes. I was complaining, which, as far as I know, is okay. On the other hadn, I wasn't (exactly) attempting a personal attack there. Sorry.

Fine. Be hostile if you would like. Protect Tomato Rights!(sign the petition!)
That's just bollocks. Yes, I'm now being hostile because I was accused of being hostile. Leave me alone. --Deskana (talk) 18:54, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
Okay! Yeesh. Leaving. Alone.

[edit] MfD

Deskana, while I'm not trying to provoke conflict, I do feel that you acted outside the boundaries of responsible adminship in deleting DTD's "Body Shop" unilaterally, without consulting anyone or putting it through MfD. Re my use of the word "unreasonable", I want to clarify that I wasn't calling you "unreasonable" (that would be a violation of WP:NPA, and people who are consistently unreasonable rarely get to be admins in any case). I do, however, stand by my criticism of your actions in nominating DTD's subpages for deletion. Look at the facts. Essjay had 288 user subpages prior to his departure. Many other users have over 100. I do understand your concerns about users spending more time on their userspace than on the project, but DTD is a good contributor who is active in reverting vandalism, and has even won a barnstar for it. Some of her userpages may be humorous/trivial, but most are useful templates for warning or welcoming, that simply add a personal touch to these routine activities. So where's the problem? Walton Vivat Regina! 17:24, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

I appreciate your concerns. My deletion of her body shop actually had nothing to do with my concerns in the MfD, I was getting frustrated with new users showing up and using that as a primary point of fun on Wikipedia. I'm not willing to undo my deletion there, please take it to WP:DRV if you want to attempt to overturn my deletion. Also, "Very active in vandalism" reverting just isn't accurate- for example, take a look at the post I just left on her talk page. It's a little BITEish, but I was trying to prove my point. --Deskana (talk) 17:32, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
It's a little BITEish, but I was trying to prove my point - er...WP:POINT? Walton Vivat Regina! 18:10, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
Ah, the great misinterpreted policy. It doesn't say "Don't make a point", it says "Don't disrupt Wikipedia to make a point". You seem to have got that confused, like a lot of other people. There was no disruption in what I said, therefore no violation of WP:POINT. There's nothing wrong with making a point, nor attempting to prove it. --Deskana (talk) 18:14, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
With respect, I know perfectly well what the policy says. WP:BITE is also a policy, and by your own admission, your behaviour could conceivably have been interpreted as violating it. Any violation of policy counts, ipso facto, as disruption, ergo this is a case of disrupting Wikipedia to illustrate a point. If you drive DTD away from Wikipedia, or discourage other users by leaving unfriendly messages, what will you have accomplished? I want to re-iterate that I'm not trying to be hostile, or to pick a fight with you, or to challenge your competence as an admin. It's your actions in this one case that I object to. Walton Vivat Regina! 18:24, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
I'm pleased we're being mature about this, seriously. And I'm sorry but I don't agree with you. It's that simple. --Deskana (talk) 18:40, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
Looking at my earlier comments, I'm going to have to apologise to a certain extent, as it looks like I was accusing you of disruption, which wasn't my intention at all. We've gone a bit off-topic here (mea culpa). But I just don't really see why you want to delete this user's subpages. Question: if DTD were to be offended/upset at her subpages being deleted, and left the project for ever, would you consider that a good result? I wouldn't. Wikipedia needs all the contributors it can get. Walton Vivat Regina! 18:56, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
I am not going to respond to this at the minute, as I am incapable of doing so without flipping out and violating NPA. --Deskana (talk) 19:04, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

I'm genuinely sorry, I didn't want things to escalate to that stage. I thought we were being quite civil to one another, up till now. As I said, I'm really not accusing you of disruption or bad faith. Probably best if we disengage from this debate for now. Walton Vivat Regina! 19:09, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

The fault isn't yours in this case, you don't need to apologise for asking questions. It's not your fault I'm so worked up. --Deskana (talk) 19:10, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] User:Da.Tomato.Dude/DTD RV2

Hi. Not sure how to fix this, but since you added the MFD notice to User:Da.Tomato.Dude/DTD RV2, it now appears on the various pages where he used that template (becuase he didn't susbt it). This might be very confusing for those editors who have the original warning on their talk page. Perhaps we should removed the MFD, then subst those pages, then place the MFD back? And might other templates of his have the same problem? --ZimZalaBim (talk) 19:59, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

I stuck the "offending" pages' MfD notifications (User:Da.Tomato.Dude/DTD RV2 and User:Da.Tomato.Dude/DTD RV) inside <noinclude> tags. Anything inside those tags will never appear on a page that has another page transcluded onto it. That should fix the problem. --Deskana (talk) 20:05, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

I asked the user to change it, and (s)he changed it to "heck", which I think is still inapropriate. But recently a different user put "hell" back in, with an edit summary of "put bad word back". [edit] Taima (whale) Article

I am sorry that you had to protect this particular article. In response to IP address 24.187.112.28 accusations, I wrote "As a courtesy to you, I will leave the gender of the calf as undetermined." Furthermore, male Orcas have an elongated white pattern stretching towards the tail in the genital region. While the female Orcas' white patterns are much more rounded with mammary slits visible. Hence, one can easily determine the gender of the calf. Anyway, I have no problem if you choose to remove the protection on this article or not. Due to this particular IP address' vulgar, I will leave this issue alone! SWF Senior Trainer 03:59, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

User:Interiot/Tool2/code.js. Awesome tool. It analyses contributions directly so there's no replication lag like there is on the toolserver. --Deskana (ya rly) 16:29, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
I can't understand it. Is there anything simpler? A•N•N•Afoxlover hello! 16:31, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
Well the fact you can't understand it suggests something's gone wrong. If it works correct, it displays a box saying "Username:" then a button that says Submit. :-p
I'll see if I can help you fix it. --Deskana (ya rly) 16:31, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
Try it now. [4] --Deskana (ya rly) 16:33, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
Acalamari helped me with it. It's over...finally! :-) A•N•N•Afoxlover hello! 18:35, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] ~~~~

The ~~~~ article redirects to Tilde, but the talk page says it should redirect to Wikipedia:Sign your posts on talk pages. I agree, but for some reason, the redirect is protected. What can be done? A•N•N•Afoxlover hello! 20:41, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Nothing. I see nothing anywhere saying that Deskana (ya rly) 23:35, 30 March 2007 (UTC) should redirect to SIG. Infact that would be a cross namespace redirect and they should be avoided. --Deskana (ya rly) 23:35, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Question

Why is it that when I attempt to edit some article, there isn't an edit tab, only a "view source" one? --Mousey.Mouse 23:09, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Those pages are protected. Most of the articles which are semiprotected you will be able to edit when your account has been active four days. Others that are full protected only administrators can edit. --Deskana (ya rly) 23:39, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. --Mousey.Mouse 21:28, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] User:Wrestlinglover420

Has attacked me with a sock that was indef. blocked by User:Kuru. User:Hellayeah, could you place a sockpuppeteer template on Wrestlinglovers talk please? Thanks much, Bmg916SpeakSign 01:03, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Hm, according to the logs, that account was created by the account you blocked User:Modderscansuckmyballs. Two socks in ten minutes. Lovely. Bmg916SpeakSign 01:07, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
You can put it on his user page, they don't normally go on talk pages. I also blocked that user ACB now, so he can't create new accounts.--Deskana (ya rly) 01:16, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
I placed it on his user page. I discovered a sleeper sock in the logs btw, also created by modderscansuckballs or w/e.... User:Mynameistylerdurden Thanks. Bmg916SpeakSign 01:25, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, I'll do that from now on, I was just following a precident that User:Yamla was using with the banned vandal User:Verdict and his 100+ socks. Thanks for the info and the help. Bmg916SpeakSign 01:33, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Not that it really matters at this point, but...

User talk:JB196 needs a fix on the template ({{vutprotected}} is showing a redirect message) - Penwhale | Blast him / Follow his steps 03:13, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

I changed a lot of redirects that were creating a long redirect chain. MediaWiki software only lets you redirect twice to avoid circular redirects that would otherwise crash the software. Thanks for the heads up. --Deskana (ya rly) 14:50, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Page protections

Not patronising at all. If you want to undo anything I've done, you're entirely free to. I can't see the problem with Florida - the last 100 edits have pretty much all been vandalism reverting, but thanks for the heads-up about userpages. – Riana talk 15:48, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] User:ANNAfoxlover/My Sandbox

I am not using it. I am using the Wikipedia Sandbox instead. No need to make a whole new sandbox when there already is one. Could you delete it for me please? (By the way, I'm working on a better sig) Thanks! ;-) A•N•N•Afoxlover hello! 15:51, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Could you? Can you see this message? Is this message not showing up? CAN YOU SEE THIS? A• •F•O•X ¡u6is April Fool's Day 2OO7 01:56, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
NO I CAN'T PLEASE WRITE BIGGER --Deskana (ya rly) 01:57, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
No need to shout, I was just wondering if you could see this message. --Anna
DID YOU SAY SOMETHING? --Deskana (ya rly) 02:23, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
What do you mean? --Anna

Never mind --Deskana (ya rly) 02:27, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Why? I just want to know why you're writing so huge. Isn't writing extremely large intolerable on talk pages, especially user talk pages? Or is there a special administrative reason that you're writing so big? A• •F•O•X ¡u6is April Fool's Day 2OO7 02:31, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
CAN YOU STILL SEE THE MESSAGE? YOU'VE GOTTEN SOME OTHER MESSAGES SO I DON'T KNOW IF YOU CAN SEE THIS MESSAGE NOW. (I'm not shouting like you were) A• •F•O•X ¡u6is April Fool's Day 2OO7 02:52, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
I CAN'T READ WHAT YOU'RE SAYING, IT'S TOO SMALL. PLEASE WRITE BIGGER! --Deskana (ya rly) 02:53, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

For the love of God, Zeus and the Flying Spaghetti Monster, people, stop typing in such large caps! Anna, while I can only infer Deskana's intentions, I assume that he may satirically commenting on your message above coded as "Could you? Can you see this message? Is this message not showing up? <big>'''CAN YOU SEE THIS?'''</big>". As I interpret Deskana's messages in large text, he is indicating that they are unnecessary in most cases on talk pages and are generally considered annoying. My recommendation: type messages without HTML- or wiki-markup. Deskana can, I assume, see your message when you type it without such syntax; he certainly does not need it to be wrapped in "big" tags or with wiki-bold markup. --Iamunknown 02:58, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

A logical assumption. The truth, however, is that I was joking around and there was no hidden meaning :-) --Deskana (ya rly) 03:01, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
But why would an administrator do that? Is there any good reason for that? A• •F•O•X ¡u6is April Fool's Day 2OO7 03:02, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
Like I said, it was a joke. I'm sorry if I offended you. --Deskana (ya rly) 03:03, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Adminstrators are people too; they do not represent a separate class from other users; they are, however, trusted by the community to maintain the abilities to delete and protect pages and block users. They occasionally joke around and are silly. :-) --Iamunknown 03:04, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
Well they may joke around but violating a talk page guideline, along with the risk of offending someone (don't worry, you didn't ;-)) is not appropriate for an administrator, in my opinion. A• •F•O•X ¡u6is April Fool's Day 2OO7 03:09, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
...try hanging out at WP:AN and WP:ANI once in a while. --Iamunknown 03:10, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
And read Wikipedia:Wikilawyering, which is kind of what you're doing now, Anna. --Deskana (ya rly) 03:11, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
I get it now. It was a joke! I feel so stupid I didn't get it... Grrrr..... A•N•N•A hi! 14:51, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] My sig

How this? A•N•N•A hi! 15:58, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Still too long in my opinion. --Deskana (ya rly) 23:25, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Typo

A lot of pages that I come to in Wikipedia seem to have a lot of typos. Should I fix these and click the "minor edit" box, or just fix it and press "save"? --Mousey.Mouse 23:19, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

It probably is a minor edit. Choosing minor edit is probably a good idea. --Deskana (ya rly) 23:23, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] why did you blank User:Kyoko?

Hello, I was curious as to why you blanked my userpage, as seen in this diff? I'm not angry or anything, just confused. Thanks for restoring it. --Kyoko 01:07, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

I was editing it to view the source, I selected it all, and then instinctively pressed tab and enter. I guess I just write too much! Like I automatically end my posts with --~~~~ on message boards. Sorry about that. --Deskana (ya rly) 01:13, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] You are funny

I like your edit summary. ;) —  $PЯINGrαgђ  02:35, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "Vandalism"

Bobo, I'm male. And I wasn't vandalising, I've been talking to this user on IRC. I'd already unprotected it when you reverted, see? No harm done. There was no malicious intent or anything. --Deskana (ya rly) 02:43, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

I realize 100% that there was no harm done. It just seems that you two admins assosciate "vandalism" with both edits to mainspace and fun on userpages. If I say you vandalized my userpage, I'm not at all saying you did anything wrong, provided that the vandalism was somthing funny- not to be confused with actual, malicious vandalism. Ninja! 02:47, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

I think you need to lighten up a bit, David :-) --Deskana (ya rly) 02:52, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

I think you need to take your sysop responsibilities more seriously, Deskana. —David Levy 02:55, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
Yikes. It was only a joke. There was no harm done. It wasn't like I was picking on some random user, I was talking to him at the time. Ease off. --Deskana (ya rly) 02:57, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
You came to my talk page and complained. I'm merely responding. —David Levy 02:59, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
No I wasn't complaining, I was just asking that you lighten up a bit. You seem a tad frustrated. --Deskana (ya rly) 03:01, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I am frustrated by the fact that some users (including sysops) believe that a particular date gives them license to do whatever they please. Oh, and I was referring primarily to your vandalism of Jimbo's user page. —David Levy 03:04, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
I give up. But I think you're going to have a very long and hard day if you don't lighten up a bit. --Deskana (ya rly) 03:06, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The Cool Wall

Could you please take a look at the cool wall talk page and my subsequent user talk page regarding this matter.--Lucy-marie 00:06, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Responded on Talk:The Cool Wall. --Deskana (ya rly) 17:08, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cryme Tyme

Some one moved this article to The Gang Stars for a dubious reason without asking anyone or filing a move request, and now the article is a re-direct to The Gang Stars and is pretty much missing and ruined. Is there a way to get it back to it's original state? Bmg916SpeakSign 16:53, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

I moved it back. I had to obliterate a few redirects in the process, you may wish to recreate them. I'm watching the page incase it is moved again; if it is I will revert and/or block the user and/or move protect. --Deskana (ya rly) 17:03, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
That's fine, I'll re-create the one re-direct that is needed. Thanks again. Bmg916SpeakSign 17:06, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
No problem. --Deskana (ya rly) 17:08, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Proof

I am Curps, I used to automatically block users as (pagemove...) and (user..).

Either way, I abandoned the original account as it was too much work.... heh heh! --At Rivells Gaweo 20:37, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Yeah, right

A whole load of vandal accounts, probably originating in North Carolina, were impersonating Curps a while back, so I'm sceptical. Moreschi Request a recording? 20:38, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

His impression isn't bad, but his clear lack of logic in thinking we'd say "Welcome back, here, have a sysop flag" is comical. --Deskana (ya rly) 20:39, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Danny's userpage

No problem. Thanks for letting me know. :-) Danny 01:55, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you

At first I was confused about why you moved my poll (though grateful for the help) but then I saw your adoption userbox. I understand now. Zantaggerung 02:40, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] How can i fight vandals?

Thanks for your help! Now I want to get involved in vandal fighting. How can I do this? -- Rei-Ginsei 02:42, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] !

Wow!!!! I am amazed. I have never seen anyone more promt.

I have a question: Where can I find a list of what I can input into my computer to make userboxes? Zantaggerung 03:00, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Userboxes (I got the term from your adoptee!) are the little things that you have a lot on the right side of your userpage, and that I have 2 of on the bottom of mine. Zantaggerung 03:11, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

I looked at the page you reccomended, and learned a little. However, what I am looking for now is just as much beyond my reach: A list of userbox sidebox images, followed by the info you have to paste into the userbox formula to get the sidebox image. Zantaggerung 03:30, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Thank you! I had fun collecting userboxes...............to much fun.................. Zantaggerung 14:20, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Errors

I pray to god that i'm wrong, but are there too many language mistakes to fix on wikipedia? For example A recurring problem, is that you have to find a guy who's seven feet tall to play the predator should be A recurring problem was the need to find someone of considerable height to play the predator. Is it impossible to formalize all unencyclopedic(in choice of words)? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ray-Ginsay (talkcontribs).

I think you're wrong, personally. It may seems like there are a lot of mistakes to fix, but there'll never be too many. Wikipedia may get vandalised more and more every day, but we also get more dedicated editors every day, like yourself! --Deskana (ya rly) 00:07, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
Which reminds me, you may want to sign your posts with four tildes (like this... ~~~~), and it sticks your username and the date and time on the end of your post. --Deskana (ya rly) 00:11, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism

Deskana, i started to question what are the criterias for vandalism, should Alexius come to my home and break my computer, would that be considered vandalism? He deleted a number of time my properly sourced quotations and citations..--laertes d 08:57, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Deskana, i would like you to know that i am now trying to revert vandalism as much as possible. Thank you for warning me. :-) XVreturns 23:37, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: A request

I have been subject to some rather vile harassment lately, and I do not wish to participate actively in the project for the time being. I understand that a report against me is currently on ANI. I only wish it had only to do with article disputes as he writes. Right now, I do not wish to go into a discussion regarding that. I wrote that email from my own email address and had already specified that I could care less if he posted it online. As I've specified on my userpage, I am open to recall, if anybody may want me to do so.--thunderboltz(TALK) 06:52, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

I removed the ANI post on User:Thunderboltz I made. I don't find any lulz in harassing the boy. I would advise User:Thunderboltz to let the sleeping dogs lie. It has to do with more than the article dispute as Thunderboltz himself knows. He went about ascribing on Kuntan all the vandalism done to Kerala related content, passed personal information to a bastard admin who posted it on User:Kuntan page. User:Thunderboltz, you don't really realise the mess your rouge admins created for Wikipedia. Instead of using Kuntan as your regular punching bag, use intelligence and try to unravel who does what. And go and apologise to User:Clt13 (my puppet as you accused) for repeatedly interceding for you. 59.91.253.128 08:26, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HeFeltSmart
