User:I Always Win (note name) recently created an account a few days ago. Today he has been removing notes related to professional wrestling events in articles of arenas such as Staples Center and Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena. He claims that these notes are not notable to the articles. However the consensus at WP:PW is that a note about major pro wrestling events should be made to the related venue article. When I refer this user to the consensus he goes out and files a report on me at the admin noticeboard/incidents. Now I believe the first step to resolve a dispute per Wikipedia:Resolving disputes should have been a formal talk between the parties involved. Instead he just goes all out and reports me on the admin noticeboard. After he accused me of having an WP:OWN problem (hint, seems familiar) he was accused by two other users of being a sock. Now while I don't believe he is a sock of User:Chadbryant since I've never talked to him before, I do believe that he is a sock of the other User:JB196 meat puppets that you blocked about a week ago. He is a sock of someone. I doubt that new registered users automatically know about WP:OWN and the Admin noticeboard upon making their first edit. I'm not sure what Then you'd be very smart not to act like one. is supposed to mean. I edited a few articles and apparently stepped on the toes of a few wrestling fans, who then chose to play the "sockpuppet" card, as I've seen happen before I ever registered an account. It's clear that a "consensus" has been reached to include pro wrestling references in as many articles as possible, and there's no sense in wasting my time arguing with it and interfering with the real purpose of this project. I have no magic wand with which to fix bugs related to the appearance of the new messages bar. That is a bug in the MediaWiki software which the developers are not only aware of, but are actively trying to fix. It is a side effect of not editing with your account. If I spot more socks of Recoome being disruptive I will block them, but my patience is wearing thin with you, what with you being "retired" and all. Protect it, meaning he can't edit it either? No. For a few reasons.
  1. He probably wants to be able to edit the page himself, otherwise he'd never have created it, so protecting it wouldn't be good common sense.
  2. Technically speaking, according to the protection policy, the only time a user page can be protected unconditionally is if the page which that user corresponds to requests it.
  3. I wouldn't protect it even if he requested it. I disagree with indiscriminate protection of user pages on a ideological level, regardless of what policy says.

[edit] how to keep a page from overloading with unhelpfull good faith edits

The page list of characters in Ed, Edd n Eddy is being overrun with good faith fancruft. To minimise the amount of damage done, there are a plethoria of comments in the text (which are not in the best of style and civilty, I know, I'll go and change them next), yet to no avail. The following diff showing the last 7 edits shows how little actualy changes.[2] By far most edits to the page are good faith fancruft, and reverts of those edits. I had requested semi-protection for the page, as the fancruft comes mostly from annons, but that was denied on the grounds of the edits being good faith. They are indeed good faith, but that doesn't mean they are usefull. Would you have any hints on what other ways I could try to get the page from being overrun? So now he's removed the archive template, and re-opened an argument that should've died a long time ago.
He's still misattributing false statements to me, but I sooo don't want to confront him. At the same time, I don't want to escalate to AN/I just because he's stubborn, uncivil, and misrepresenting me.
So, what do I do? It's so tempting to correct him (for example, my personal preference is that I actually like Goku as a simple name; it just doesn't seem appropriate for an article. And I like at least a few seasons of the dub, because they were done by the Ocean group, my favourite group of voice actors), but I can't see this ending if I do.

I know where Bladestorm's coming from with wanting to correct him, too. For all his claims of bias, I've actually watched the entire dub. Just watched that ep where Kuririn fought stage 1 Cell that was on this past Saturday. And I simply say "Goku" pretty much 99% of the time, so my opinion here is not based on bias. I don't edit when I'm really pissed off with Wikipedia. That's why there's gaps of a few days when I don't edit. I quite frequently get pissed at Wikipedia due to having my arms bound by policy or some such. Be assured, I am human and I say stupid things, I just normally have the good sense to fix it. What I thought was strange was that nobody had responded to Speed Air Man there, far as I read. Recoome's refusal to answer back to me at Dragonball wiki leads me to think that he was responsible for some past vandalism there. Recoome hasn't changed, what with the personal attacks and all. Now he is editing the List of Dragon Ball dubbed episodes page regularly. I've given serious thought of reverting everything his ips have edited on Wikipedia, reason being that he is a banned sockpuppet. Ideas? Lord Sesshomaru

Apparently, TTN attempted to redirect the episodes per WP:EPISODE guideline and from that point on, there was a little "edit war" between the Recoome ips, TTN, Power Level and Speed Air Man. Anonymous IP editing is a fundamental principle of the project. I think it should be allowed. Actually, out of principle, I refuse to protect userpages simply because of user request. "Anyone can edit the enyclopedia, but I don't trust anonymous users to edit a page about me". What does that say? Even if they can't be trusted a lot of the time. Vandals will just register to vandalise, and we'll scare off the people that actually do use IPs. And another thing. I understand your view on this, but I have not been here long. Although I first started a membership here earlier this year, I wasn't able to actually do anything or contribute for a very long while because of different reasons, so my edits in those past months are very minimal. I have only just started to actually understand the inner workings of Wikipedia & I asked for adoption here for a reason: to be able to learn how to edit/add to wikipedia without messing it up or accidentally vandalizing. uses a stage name,,,,,,, should the Wikipedia article refer
to him/her by the stage name or real name in the article's text.
For example Boris Karloff's real name was William Henry Pratt,
should the article's text(not the name of the article) refer to him

Tell me so I can delete them then. A GFDL violation means the article must be deleted, as ALL content on Wikipedia must be available under the GFDL. So since you know what you're doing, how do we move the history? How can we just choose that Seviper's history is more important than Zangoose's, or vice versa? This is the only way to merge the text. Are you telling me that in the case of a large scale merge, that we should move the history of one article to that list? Basically, if what you say is true, merging is utterly impossible. I think you're just pushing your interpretation of the rules more than what actually is.

I'm not quite sure what you mean about "content released into the public domain". All content on Wikipedia is available under GFDL.
And about history merging... I'm about to perform a history merge now. You can see the results once I'm done. I'm hoping it'll work. Last time I checked, merging was fine. As long as the information of the original articles is still in the redirects, it should be good to go. Otherwise, as Link mentioned, people are messing things up pretty badly. I must be especially bad after merging 50-60 non-notable character articles to a list. TTN 02:26, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
It's fine so long as somewhere in the page history, the original author is attributed. If you have an edit summary like...
"Merging content from A, B and C"

For example, check out Abra evolutionary line now. All the page history of Abra (Pokémon), Kadabra and Alakazam is in there. It's a bit messed up, for example this, but it is GFDL compliant. That is probably how it should be done, but nobody actually does that way. Unless you want to propose some kind of definite "do a history merge after every single merge" policy, I wouldn't bother trying to enforce it or delete articles because of it. Again, nobody has ever even suggested doing it that way (WP:MERGE just says to leave them as redirects), and it leaves a very bad mess. TTN 17:36, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
Perhaps a history merge isn't appropriate in cases such as this; I was expecting the software to make more sense of the diffs than it did. However, if the articles are left as redirects, the redirects must be mentioned somewhere in the page history. Without attribution, they are violations of GFDL. I have made a Dragon Ball portal & contacted several users for assistance and no one has responded as of yet. Can you help me adhere the boxes correctly? At times, it appears fixed and all, then goes all wrong. I just can't seem to order the alignment of the boxes and sections. Lord Sesshomaru

What is the problem, specifically? The only thing I notice at the minute are the redlinked transclusions (something you're presumably aware of) and those peculiar lines over the {{click}} boxes. If you click below them, you seem to get the image. Since I remember someone saying that {{click}} works by virtue of a CSS hack, if you're using other CSS as well over the top of them, that might be the cause of the lines. I think I can fix that.
