If someone could include an explanation of why this synthetic peptide hormone is not destroyed in the digestive tract, I would appreciate it. Oxytocin, a very similar peptide hormone, is destroyed in the digestive tract, as are many others. What is it that allows the desmopressin to remain in tact when ingested in tablet form?
