Talk:Desktop alert

The images were removed to eliminate the brand imaging but the core write is on the money for Desktop Alert technology overview.

We have GOOD information on this page. There is a link to a community that studies mass notification systems (non commercial)

[edit] Improving the article

I've given the page a really thorough copyedit and rewrite for style; next I'm going to go through and add wikilinks. There are a couple of problems on which I could use other editors' input:

  • Technologies: we currently compare "pushing" (broadcast) with "polling": is that correct? Should it be "pulling"?
  • Citations: there are lots of unattributed assertions here that need supporting references. I don't know this field, perhaps someone else can track some down?
  • Images: could we get a screencap from a popular/representative app, or would that push us into advertising?
  • Context template: once wikilinks are added I think the page may be clear enough to delete this template. Any thoughts?

You are recklessly editing. A complaint will be filed against Gonzonoir. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.242.133.55 (talk) 21:50, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

96.242.133.55 (and other IPs and accounts used by the same user). You first put a block of info on the page, then you start adding your (your, see WP:COI) link to a couple of pages, and finally you add (mainly) your link to the data you added to this article. The data on your server may corroborate the data here (and as a matter of fact, that is certainly not surprising!), it is not a proper source for that data. Use other sites, and discuss (e.g. here) before editing the article. Thanks. --Dirk Beetstra T C 00:16, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
