[edit] Etymology?

I just found this on Indian placenames from J.A. Costello's Indian History of the Northwest - Siwash, published in 1895; note the Deschutes River entry, which is for the Washington Deschutes, not the Oregon one....but either Twana borrowed it from French/HBC English, or it's actually not French....which raises quetsions about Deschutes River (Oregon), also. WP:WA editors and WP:Indigenous editors please note despite Costello's title there's a lot of historical detail to be had for various articles.Skookum1 (talk) 16:07, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
