Destination Anywhere is Jon Bon Jovi's second solo album after his musical contribution to the film Young Guns II. The production is very different from the ones found in Bon Jovi albums, with drum loops, female backing vocals and Bon Jovi himself singing in a lower register in most of the songs. Only his band mate David Bryan contributed to the album, but also one of the co-writers of songs such as Livin' On A Prayer, Desmond Child, plays the tuba in the song "Ugly" and is one of the producers.

A short film entitled Destination Anywhere: The Film (also released in 1997) was produced and incorporated music and concepts from the album. The film was released on DVD on April 11th 2005, and contains the film, Destination Anywhere, the EPK for the album, and four promo videos.
