From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Destilerías y Crianza del Whisky S.A. is a Spanish company created by businessman Nicomedes García Gómez in 1958. A first distillery built in Palazuelos de Eresma in Segovia (Spain) started operating in February 1959. In March 1963 started to produce Whisky DYC, the first Spanish whisky. The initial production of one million liters per year climbed to twenty million per year in the 80s.[1]

Less expensive than most American, Canadian, Scotch and Irish whiskies, whisky DYC has traditionally attracted Spaniards on a low budget. Popularly, it is mixed with non-alcoholic beverages like Coca Cola or Fanta.[2]

Eight year old Whisky DYC is a combination of malts and spirits distilled from barley aged separately a minimum of eight years in american oak barrels.[3]
