The following is a page about the fifth season of Desperate Housewives, due to begin airing in September 2008 on ABC. For the first time, the season will begin airing in the United Kingdom on Channel 4 at approximately the same time as the USA, as confirmed by Channel 4 on their forum.[1]

There has been much speculation of the fifth season of the show, due to the many cliffhangers at the end of season four, such as the departure of Edie Britt, and Susan's new mystery man, played by Gale Harold. When asked about Sheridan's departure, Cherry commented 'She won't be back for a few years'. This may be a reference to the rumoured 'five year leap' that the show is undertaking. When questioned about this, and asked whether Sheridan is still part of the show, Cherry said 'I only address one rumor at a time. We'll have to wait until next season and see'. There has also been considerable speculation whether Mike Delfino will return, after the final scene in season four, which shows Susan in another man's arms.

Famous American R&B singer/actress, Beyoncé Knowles is in talks to join the cast.[2]
