Designation Scheme

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In England, under the Designation Scheme, a number of important collections in non-national museums have been chosen to be "designated collections". This designated status gives access to the Designation Challenge Fund (DCF).

The scheme was launched by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) in 1997.

In 2005, the scheme was extended to the collections of libraries and archives, and some 38 archive collections were awarded designated status in the first round.
