- State of Deseret, a provisional state of the United States, proposed in 1849 by Mormon settlers in Salt Lake City; Utah Territory was also provisionally named the Territory of Deseret prior to its admission as a territory in 1850
- Deseret alphabet, a phonetic language developed in the mid-1800s in Utah Territory to assist foreign-speaking immigrants in learning English
- University of Deseret, the original name of the University of Utah, founded in 1850
- Deseret Management Corporation, a for-profit management company of assets for the LDS Church
