"Desecration Smile" is a song by American band Red Hot Chili Peppers from their most recent studio album Stadium Arcadium, a single released from the album and the fourth single. The single version, was edited due to length for radio play and is shorter than the album version which is 4:15 long. A few of the lyrics have been removed for the radio edit, which is typical for longer songs released as singles.

The song was first heard by fans when it was played at the Bridge School Benefit in 2004. The song was bootlegged and can be found on the internet. However, the structure and chorus of the song are different from the version released on Stadium Arcadium.

The song was never released as a single in the United States.

[edit] Desecration Smile Video

The music video was shot and released in February 2007 and directed by "Under the Bridge" director Gus Van Sant. It was shot entirely in one take with one camera and featured the band huddled together singing all the way through.

There is also an alternate version of the band singing and playing their instruments by the ocean cut together with parts of the official video.
