Desborough (hundred)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The hundred of Desborough is one of the three Chiltern Hundreds in Buckinghamshire, England.
The hundred is in the southwest of the county and is bounded by the River Thames to the south and Oxfordshire to the west. To the north it borders the Aylesbury hundred, and to the east the Burnham hundred.
The main town in the hundred is High Wycombe. Other places include Marlow and Hughenden.
There is no place in Desborough hundred named Desborough (although there is an area of High Wycombe which bears this name). There is, however, a Desborough in Northamptonshire.
The title of Baron Desborough of Taplow was chosen by William Henry Grenfell in 1905 when he was elevated to the peerage.
There is a Desborough Hundred Psychogeographical Society founded by writer John Rogers and artist Cathy Rogers.
